Democrats and War

my father brought up a good point the other day...

the repukes constantly talk about how dems are weak on war, anti military, blah blah blah. but lets think about the major wars of the 20th century:

1. WWI- won by a Dem
2. WWII- won by a Dem
3. Korea- won (if it can be called that) by a dem
4. Vietnam- Lost by a repuke
5. Gulf War- kind of won by a repuke
6. Bosnia- kind of won by a dem
7. Iraq- invasion successful, but fucking mess created by a repuke

damn that FDR! weak on the military...

There are never any winners in war. There is never Glory in War. No one is really free in war. People bring the war home with them. The warriors live it till they die.

6. war sucks

to put it horrendously simple. i can never ever ever understand what a veteran has gone through. I feel fucking terrible that the human race has stooped to killing each other, and that we treat those who have gone so others didnt have to so shittily. but repukes have put it on the table, and in their pointy little heads make it the prime issue. i suppose i should simply not even bring it up here, but where i live this kind of thing is what loses elections. im sorry i put such a simple spin on it, and... well i cant even put down my feelings of my regret about even bringing this up

You're bragging that Wilson and Truman sent tens of thousands of American children (or young men, whatever you'd like to call 18 year olds) to their deaths for purposes OTHER than national security?

You're bragging that Nixon lost a war that Johnson should not have STARTED in the first place?

What exactly are we to be proud of...that our party has been fully complicit in the murder of millions worldwide?

5. im not HAPPY we went to war

i despise war. i am simply stating the facts that a freeper would put any value on. in retrospect, this was a bad post; i suppose i didnt think it through. ive made several bad posting choices tonight; how come no one ever responds to my GOOD posts????

but though i hate war, i do justify our participation in WWII in the fact that we WERE attacked, and did, though belatedly, deal with a horrible genocidal government. though, the pisser is we got help doing it from a WORSE genocidal government. im gonna chalk tonights bad posting up to horrible luck, and go bang my head on the wall

I've argued with so many people who extol war that I assumed you were engaging in the same phallus-waving argument.

But you aren't, and I'm more the fool for it. Again, I apologize.

P.S. Please don't bang your head against the wall--we need more people like you. Anyone who has an ACLU logo is a treasure, and shouldn't ruin their large brains.
