Just committed some fun at Barnes and Noble
Took the O'Neill books, hid them, put all the "Unfit for Command" covers (6) on Bush's autobiography ("A Charge to Keep")

2. Thanks!
You made me laugh out loud. I've turned RW books upside down before but never thought of switching covers. Love it!

3. While I understand emotionally where you're
coming from, what do you think your reaction would be if the repukes did the same thing with the books of Franken, Moore, Ivins, Clinton, etc.? Neither side has the right to do that to the other. It's not right when they do it and it's not right when we do it.

8. But don't you see that
it's not right for either side to do this? I repeat the question, how do you think you would feel if repukes did that with OUR books? Pretty pissed off, huh? We'd call them bullies, fascists, afraid of free speech, etc., etc. So, what's the difference when we do the same thing? Seems like kind of a childish and juvenile thing to do, no matter how emotionally satisfying.

Two wrongs are better than one Repuke wrong.

totally incorrect, but never mind. I can see it's pointless.

14. It has NOTHING to do with
them being nice to us only if we're nice to them!!! It has to do with basic decency and grown-up behaviour!!! And you never did answer my twice-asked question about how you'd feel if the same thing was done to our side's books. Again, this was very childish, juvenile and immature.

20. oh, c'mon...
This is a fine example of monkey-wrenching. "Oh, no, someone switched covers on the anti-kerry book I was going to spend money on! Damn those Kerry supporters! I'll make sure I vote for Bush...like I intended to all along!'
I mean, really, what's the problem? Would I be pissed if the situation was reversed? Yes, for a minute or two. Then I would return it and say "those damn republicans!"
Get a sense of humor, would ya?

26. I agree, our side is all about taking the high road in the long run.
But something little like this? It's just tweaking the competition. In any sort of competition, it always helps to put the other guy a little off-balance.

All's fair in one of my most favorite things and one of my least-favorite things.

being 'nice' to anyone was more about yourself than it was about the situation.

15. Not a good idea ... they'll know it's Kerry supporters ... we can't
afford to alienate a single independent/undecided (who might just be getting the book to help make up their own minds).

MY idea (though I wouldn't have really done it) was to take all the copies of "Unfit for Command" out of the NONFICTION section and put them in the FICTION section, where they belong.

But at Borders tonight, I couldn't find any copies of "Unfit for Command" (at least nowhere in a prominent place -- maybe they're listening to Kerry's complaints about the lies).

17. Not a nice thing to do
Barnes & Noble sells books on all ends of the spectrum. You're only hassling them when you do childish things like that. Suppose each book was bought, and each was returned...odds are they couldn't find the proper jacket for either, so they'd eat both books. Your stunt costs the only neutral party in the whole affair.

19. Don't worry, no one will buy the book without
first flipping through the pages. No harm done.

Acting on ideas like give us some comic relief from this nightmare we are all living right now. Bush* puts new dust jackets on our men and women, and sends them off to die for NOTHING!!
Switching dust jackets on a book attempting to SMEAR a Presidential candidate so that THEY can keep on putting those dust jackets on our children and sending them to die is the very least we can do.
