Mix of Politically Conscious Music for 2004 Election?
I'm trying to make a mix of political music, bush bashing, liberal, uplifting, politically conscious music for the 2004 election - suggestions welcomed!

1. Do NOT forget Mos Def. He will be playing in NYC at Central Park FRIDAY!!!
I hope to be there.

It will be the best event of the protest - and it is not even a political event.

But it will be political.

3. Here's a few:
Assuming you're familiar with old classics that somehow transcend 4 decades and fit the current situation like a glove; don't forget "Masters of War."

For more current stuff:

My Hero, Mr. President; Paula Cole http://www.paulacole.com/news/index.html
Shadow Government Hugh Blumenfeld
http://home.earthlink.net/~h2jukebox/hughhouse.index.html

John McCutcheon has some good ones; my favorite is "The List."
He also has "Dick Cheney," "Hail to the Chief," "Ashcroft's Army," "Not Me," "Our Flag Was Still There," and "Let's Pretend." You can hear them here: http://www.folkmusic.com/f_music.htm

A couple of "filks" from Joel Landy, "We're running out of time," and "George W. Bush Inaugural Theme:" http://joellandy.tripod.com/

John Lester has some: http://www.johnlestermusic.com/MP3s.html

And don't forget Willie Nelson; December's "What Ever Happened To Peace On Earth," written specifically for Iraq, and the older "Jimmy's Road," still very appropriate. http://willienelson.com/
