I saw just enough of Face the Nation this morning to pop an eyeball. Fortunately, I only needed one to get off a letter to Bob Schieffer. I don't know how this weekend is going to play out, but it's for sure the Freepers will have their fax machines humming Monday morning. I suggest we do the same. In addition to whatever efforts the Kerry campaign and Moveon organize, I humbly submit that we at DU ought to get a jump on things.
Here's mine:
Mr. Schieffer:
There is neither a moral nor factual equivalence between the swiftboatvets for slander ads against John Kerry and the Moveon.org ad against George W. Bush's National Guard service. You can strike the objective journalist pose all you want, but a real journalist would acknowledge a significant difference in truth and honor between the two. For you to pretend otherwise makes you a contributor to, not an observer of, the poisonous political atmosphere.
A real journalist would also know that John Kerry twice called upon supporters to drop the National Guard issue---once months ago and once just this week. You must have been too busy studying RNC talking points to notice.
