Desperate "Oldie DU'ers Fight to make views know...and are ignored
Edited on Sun Aug-22-04 08:23 PM by KoKo01
in the SBV Onslaught" and "Media Wars" where they are trying to tell folks to "Look Out...be wary...don't jump on the latest Media Whore Channel who "sounds like it's speaking to YOU."

But...Oldies are ignored...they need to "get a grip and cash in their SS Payments...because they aren't getting that the "Media is Turning to Us" and are going to push Kerry over... because they "see the light!"

ROFL...DU'ers Be Very Wary of these Media Whores...and try to not spend your time worrying about which side of the spin they are on today, yesterday, or tomorrow...it will all change...and in the end, it's about RATINGS AND MONEY...not Honor, Integrity, Principles, Clarity and Good and Wise Government...it's about "whoring" for who will give you the most for your "multi-million estate on Nantucket or wherever your heart's desire lies...today.

3. ROFL..."gumming applesauce." I think my garbled post is about some
of us "oldies" (not yet "applesauce gumming fgs!) are trying to speak as Cassandra. And, we are trying to warn, caution, urge folks to be skepti cal..but that some don't want to listen.

I think it's my "OWN" frustration over what I see being done to Kerry and I can't see how this could happen..with those of us who have been through other elections trying to caution and many here on DU being blindfolded to what is coming. And, also wondering why that "old Geezer Kerry, doesn't get it...what's coming at him."

Gumming my applesauce and "crust of soft bread" as I wait for my caretakers to take me off to my "toes up" Nappie for the night. :D

Hell, even Scarborough is on the list this time around.

If you think Scarborough is on our side, you're in a for a nasty surprise, n00b.

8. When shrub becomes a liability the media will turn on him.
THAT is how I see it. Every step of the way thru this regime, I have preached the gospel of "he who writes the checks controls the media spin" and every step of the way it has been met with mixed response. Well, the polling numbers have been down for quite a while and no amount of "terra" alerts are gonna elevate them again.

NOW is when the big money guys get a bit nervous that they might just be stuck with the chimp and not hang onto the White House. They have GOT to do something, and it has GOT to be before the convention.

It might men throwing Unca Dick to the wolves to bring in some new meat (with the increase in popularity) or it might mean bringing the chimp down so far that the convention becomes a floor fight--either way, they will not allow the Executive Branch to pass thru their fingers without some kind of fight.

Thus, you see the talking heads begin to fall in line--and thus you see the leading edge of "journalism" when the begin to un-make the king.

Does this make me an old fart? I dunno--I think it just demonstrates that I was there when it happened with Nixon .

9. davsand, I would wish that in this time...the "powers" that "took out"
Nixon would do the same to Chimp...But, given the "investment" in Bush, et al crime family, I think we live in a different time and much more is at stake for the "media whores" this time..to leave Bush in than to "tak him out."

Maybe you don't remember...but during Nixon's time journalists probably made $25 to 30,000 a year...if they were good. I worked in Book Publishing at that time...and know that salaries for "journalists writers" were very low...even CEO of major corporations were very low...back then, before stock options and huge bonuses arrived on the scene.

I remember when Barbara Walters "Million Dollar Contract" made news all over the media because it was "Unheard of."

But, I know that Tim Russert has a very fine house on Nantucket near Jack Welch (former CEO of GE and that GE owns NBC/MSNBC) and those that don't have second homes in Martha's Vineyard (Mass) and Nantucket are enjoying Aspen Co. and Wyoming and Idaho...along with Cheney and Rumsfeld and who knows how many others of the Military, Industrial, Media Complex.

I think we here on DU spend much time checking out our Politicians and their dark and nefarious dealings and histories and don't spend enough time doing background checks on those who REPORT/FILTER our news.

It's all big business. Howie the Whore, Kurtz's wife is a big GOP Public Relations Operative and helped Swartzenegger's California Campaign to replace Davis. Howie Kurtz wrote the "mea culpa" for the
"Washington Post" on how badly they fell down in covering the WMD that led up to the Iraq Invasion. Bob Woodward looks very different if you see him with Carl Bernstein (appearing on Larry King together a couple of weeks ago). Which of them look like they sleep on "fine French linens" (quoting Moore about Bush's bedding)? Bernstein looks boozed and worn out but on King's show he spoke the truth for Democrats. Woodward looked like he get a "manicure" every few days and he was pumping Bush.

How can we sit and wait for the MEDIA to TURN in our favor? How could Kerry's Campaign NOT KNOW from experience what was done to Clinton in his second term and to Gore when he was running. It's not like they don't have experience with how the RW and the Media operate these days, is it? Or, are they regular guests of them in the "off hours" and one doesn't trash the "one who comes to the dinner party?"

That's all I'm saying. Beware...we expect so much..but it may not come in the way we think...and we need to be wary.

10. KoKo, no one who is sane will trust the media to carry our water for us.
However, I DO think it is a good idea to give positive feedback to a network that is starting to question hard these people who have previously been softballed. We know they're whores, but MSNBC obviously sees there is a market out there for the hard line they've been taking against the administration just recently and letting them know we're watching will help... it will also help to counteract the shitstorm they're sure to be enduring from the freepers.

11. Yes...I sent them an e-mail...I send them e-mails..I think we need to keep
doing this to counter the Right Wing..It's most important. But, it doesn't mean that they will listen given the stakes they have in Bush re-election. Or, even how they will act if Kerry is elected, given the track record once they got their "media deregulation" during Clinton's term.

I think we are obsessing over the "Swift Boat thing" when we should be e-mailing about Iraq and Missing WMD, Health Care, the Coruption in America's larges companies...daily reports of Companies lying about earnings affecting all of our lives.

But instead we fret over Swift Boat...we hang on every word about Swift Boat from MSNBC, CNN, FAUX or NPR and whatever else.

The Repugs have been sucessful in making this election about Leadership in WAR...and in revisionist history about the horror of Vietnam.

That's my point. I guess I don't make my points very well in my posts, or something...but that's my point.

We need to keep after the "Media Whores" and be relentless, but we should not expect to see results. We need to fax/phone/e-mail our congresspersons as much as the media though,...because they MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS...and THEY have the POWER. The media work for the Boss just as you and I do...They aren't journalists like in the old days that we read about. They are paid to say what they say.

12. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
That's all it is.

Any perceived "change" in some media in our benefit is merely coincidence, not change of heart.

There is no liberal media, or conservative media. The media at times appears more conservative and at times appears more liberal. The bottom line is money, and the media will represent whatever hue is most profit making at any given moment.

Have a nice night.

13. Yep. And take a guess WHO has the most $$$$????
The same bush family mafia that has been dealing drugs since BEFORE Iran-Contra. The same bush/cheney who has been Halliburting the U.S. treasury since BEFORE Iraq. The same GE and oil company associates who was enabling Nazis since before WWII.

You're thinking about a few advertising dollars ($$$). But the people who are REALLY in charge, are talking about global domination. Now, THAT'S where the big dollars are ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$), and they want THEIR boy in office!!!!!!!!

The media may have thrown us a bone in the past couple of days to shut us up and make us more "trusting", but they're giving the whole cow to the big boys they brought to the dance.

14. The weird posts keep coming....I've seen CNN turnarounds, Scarborho'
praises, Mathews' revival, and urgent messages to go to Hannity's website to pay him back...all in the past few days. Being the skeptic that I am, I'm really wondering if it's not sweeps week that has caused the ne'er do well pundits' changes of heart. Sure, they will play nice for a day or two--especially when it will up their rating for the Neilsens or Arbitrons but their agenda doesn't change. I'm hoping those reading the posts here realize that.
