Catalogue of bush lies
I always get mad when i hear people whining about how we have no 'proof' that bush ever lied. So i tried to put together a list of what bush claims vs the facts. I tried to source a lot of it just because when arguing with Bush people, they complain if you don't back yourself up even though *they* never do.

I'm gonna list what i have found here..i was wondering if people here had any others to add to this list. Then I'm gonna hit all my conservative friends up with it, for some fun. I hope I got it all right.

1. Claim: On Sept. 7, meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair at Camp David, Bush told reporters: "I would remind you that when the inspectors first went into Iraq and were denied, finally denied access, a report came out of the Atomic -- the IAEA -- that they were six months away from developing a weapon. I don't know what more evidence we need."

fact: Unfortunately for bush, this report came out in 1998 and stated, "Based on all credible information to date, the IAEA has found no indication of Iraq having achieved its program goal of producing nuclear weapons or of Iraq having retained a physical capability for the production of weapon-useable nuclear material or having clandestinely obtained such material."

2. On the president's Oct. 7 speech to the nation from Cincinnati, he introduced several rationales for taking action against Iraq. Describing contacts between al Qaeda and Iraq, Bush cited "one very senior al Qaeda leader who received medical treatment in Baghdad this year."

fact: In the case of the al Qaeda leader receiving medical treatment, U.S. intelligence officials acknowledged that the terrorist, Abu Musab Zarqawi, was no longer in Iraq and that there was no hard evidence Hussein's government knew he was there or had contact with him

3. Bush said that "we have discovered through intelligence that Iraq has a growing fleet" of unmanned aircraft and expressed worry about them "targeting the United States."

fact: On the matter of the aircraft, a CIA report this month suggested that the fleet was more of an "experiment" and "attempt" and labeled it a "serious threat to Iraq's neighbors and to international military forces in the region" -- but said nothing about it having sufficient range to threaten the United States.

4. claim: Bush also stated that in 1998, "information from a high-ranking Iraqi nuclear engineer who had defected revealed that despite his public promises, Saddam Hussein had ordered his nuclear program to continue." He added, "Iraq could decide on any given day to provide a biological or chemical weapon to a terrorist group or individual terrorists," an alliance that "could allow the Iraqi regime to attack America without leaving any fingerprints."

fact: Bush's statement about the Iraqi nuclear defector, implying such information was current in 1998, was a reference to Khidhir Hamza. But Hamza, though he spoke publicly about his information in 1998, retired from Iraq's nuclear program in 1991, fled to the Iraqi north in 1994 and left the country in 1995. Finally, Bush's statement that Iraq could attack "on any given day" with terrorist groups was at odds with congressional testimony by the CIA. The testimony, declassified after Bush's speech, rated the possibility as "low" that Hussein would initiate a chemical or biological weapons attack against the United States but might take the "extreme step" of assisting terrorists if provoked by a U.S. attack.

5. Claim: In New Hampshire, Oct 20002, he said his education legislation made "the biggest increase in education spending in a long, long time."

Fact: the 15.8 percent increase in Department of Education discretionary spending for fiscal year 2002 (the figures the White House supplied when asked about Bush's statement) was below the 18.5 percent increase under Clinton the previous year -- and Bush had wanted a much smaller increase than Congress approved.

6. Claim: For his tax cuts, he claimed that 92 million Americans on average would receive $1100 due to his tax cuts.

Fact: This was a phony number. Most middle-income earners could expect to get a couple hundred dollars from Bush's tax cuts

Where's The Outrage? By David Corn

7. Medicare Bill: The bush administration warned the top expert on Medicare cost that if he released the true cost of the bill, he would be fired. Bush administration officials knew for months that the Medicare prescription drug law would cost far more than it had told Congress.

8. For the deficit, bush claims it will drop from $521 billion this year to $239 billion in 2009.

Fact: But an analysis released by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office shows that the President's budget will not cut the deficit in half over five years, and "would run up $2.75 trillion in additional debt over the next decade.

9. While debating Al Gore in 200, Bush claims to have supported a patient's bill of rights while governor of Texas. This is untrue. He, in fact, vigorously resisted such a measure, only reluctantly bowing to political reality and allowing it to become law without his signature.

10. On December 3, 2003, President Bush signed into law the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003 to reduce the threat of destructive wildfires while upholding environmental standards and encouraging early public input during review and planning processes. The legislation is based on sound science .

Fact: This premise is contradicted by the general scientific consensus, which has found that logging can increase fire risk. "Healthy Forests Initiative" will do little to protect communities and homes from forest fires, instead this sweeping initiative is concentrated on decreasing public involvement, reducing environmental protection and increasing access to our National Forests and other federal lands for timber companies.

11. Claim: The Bush administration has come up with a Clear Skies Initiative that it says would cut power plant (mostly coal) emissions by 70%

Fact: This claim sounds great, but will actually result in more pollution than if we simply enforced the existing Clean Air Act.

2. your welcome
It took me a long time to go through all my articles i've saved. This is only a small amount of what i know is out there. So hopefully other people can add to it. I know there are a lot of war lies, but i find those hard to counter because conservatives always say he had 'bad intelligence.'

With these, its all right from his mouth. And hopefully hard to counter.
