Are Minority Neo-Cons Self-Loathing?

OK, I'm asking a biased audience, but does it seem like today's Republicans and neo-cons of color hate what they see in the mirror? I heard about Michelle Malkin's nasty little diatribe justifying interment camps and came to find out the chick is half Asian? Not that your race should identify your politics but damn!!

This hooker actually said its OK for US government to look up brown people because they look like terrorist even though she IS brown?! And it goes down the list, D'Souza with the bell curve, Ward Connelly with Affirmative action, Clarence Thomas and of course, the current joke in Illinois, Alan Keyes. It's as if to become a Republican and be minority, you have sign a contract to flog yourself monthly for not having to tan.

I went out with Puerto Rican Repub who didn't mind getting stopped in the airport for looking Arab and thinks its fine to deny immigrant children access to school. Ugh!!! (Admittedly, she looks like Selma Hayek, so I'm a little more tolerant of the lunacy.)

The only famous Black Republicans I think of who don't wake up in the morning loathing they're Black are Colin Powell and Don King. That's just sad!


I know a lot of old school black Republicans that I respect. They don't hate being Black, they just think that Capitalism and education will help the community more than government programs. I don't wholly disagree or agree with that. But, at least they don't seem to think they're communities are scum and they're somehow special. Is it me, or are minority neo-cons self loathing bastards?

I think many of them, Malkin included, think "Hey there's a lot of dough to be made in denouncing my own race. And anything that gets me money is ok by me."

Let's see, she's Asian American whose ancestors have been dehumanized and pillaged by the US government since the end of the Spanish American war and somehow she thinks its cool for the goverment to look up the Japanese?! I know that the Japanese are historically not well liked in Asia, but fuck!! Also, doesn't the Philipines have a huge Muslim populiations?! 3. No, they're just on the make

and the right wing pays a lot better than the left does. They're just more of the same old "ends justify the means" crowd that makes up the bulk of the GOP. The end is riches. The means are sloppy research used to put out lies.

4. I am Puerto Rican myself.

One thing I can tell you is that when SOME Puerto Ricans (and other minorities) start doing well and climbing the econmic ladder and can live in better neighborhoods, buy more expensive cars, send their kids to better schools, etc. it seems to be a mindset among them that they now have to start "acting" white and denouning their roots, like its something bad and something to be ashamed of. I know from some relatives of mine. They stop speaking Spanish in public, eat only "American" foods etc. in the misguided feeling that this makes them seem more successful to an outsider. I think people like Malkin go further and are truly self loathing in that they go out of their way to denounce and put down their own kind. What is most pathetic is that most of the people like Malkin look obviously Asian or obviously Latino or Black or whatever. They are publicly self loathing, yet no one would be fooled for a minute to think they are as white as these people obviously wish they were. Thankfully, in my experience most Puerto Ricans and other minorities I have knows are not like this at all and most of us have no use at all for people who are.

6. I think there is a mistaken assumption that minoirty/oppressed

status confers moral excellence so it comes as a shock that people like Malkin exist. For instance Tavis Smilely asked Gore Vidal in a recent interview why Vidal coming from such a priveleged backgrond concerned himself with the underclass. Vidal said it was that it was instilled in him from an early age.

Circumstance whether good or bad does not confer compassion and concern for others those values need to be instilled.

7. I suspect true believers must be masters of DENIAL. Ward Connerly's

'Racial Privacy Initiative' may have been motivated by the existential panic Connerly must have felt whenever he had to fill out a form and declare his racial self-designation. I remember hearing him say in a TV interview something to the effect he'd never thought about what his race was!

His solution: Outlaw California government's ability to gather such data, with exceptions only for criminal suspects, medical research, and Federal requirements. Connerly's obvious longstanding break with reality is really scary in a powerful state education official, whose initiatives have diminished the life chances of tens of thousands of people.

But I suspect that this kind of racial sickness is very rare, and that most of the minorities who spout Republican talking points don't really believe what they are saying, except when they talk about "the virtue of selfishness".

9. the neocons LOVE conservative minorities, they get far more exposure

than they deserve because it enforces the concept "if you cant beat em join em" Malkin, Keyes, Coulter (tranvestite corner) Its expected that minorities will be on the side of dems and liberals, these groups are the most negatively affected by policies put forth by the repukes so when a minority with a little linguistc talent joins their side they LOVE it. The thing is most liberal minorities realize the transparent attempt to draw them to their side. Malkin is married, I'll bet her husband is white. They are selfloathing, Malkin is a classical pianist, the rarified world of classical musicians is dominated by whites, she sees herself reflected in those eyes and does not like what she sees. she can NEVER be white but she can adopt the strongest suite consevative whites can offer a minority, racism.
