Veteran appreciation thread
With all the attacks against John Kerry's war record, I would like to show my appreciation and gratitude to all veterans of the USA, and I invite other DUers to do so as well!

So, here's to all the people who have served in our Armed Forces to protect our freedoms, including those who are deceased (including my grandfathers and many of my great-uncles).

6. Thanks from a vet
My service was peacetime, but it's nice to hear a thanks. I also reach out to thank fellow vets espceially those who are sick and hurting, physcially and emotionally. Once when working at the VA we had small groups who went around personally thanking the VietNam vets who received no thanks at all back then.

9. Absolutely!
No matter what one may think about war, a country needs a strong defense. And the United States military has proven time and time again that they are the best. These men and women are perfectly willing to put themselves in harms way for our country. If this sounds personal, it's because it is. But that doesn't matter. Our troops deserve respect. Love ya dad and Uncle Phil and Uncle K. And good luck Aaron, I hope you come back alive and in one piece. Sorry about getting personal, its just that I feel strongly about this. Anti Iraq war, but pro troops.

10. cheers!
thank you all!!!

i was raised to respect our service men and women. my great uncle was a pow in wwII, then survived the batan death march only to be blown up by US forces when the ship he was on was mistaken for an enemy vessel. the family held no hard feelings and they continue to support our armed forces to this day. that speaks volumes.

I come from a long line of vets, who fought in wars ranging from the French & Indian War to Vietnam. To all who wore or still wear the uniform, my hat is off to you. My thanks and all honor.
