22. Thanks To DUers, I skipped replay of Hardball and watched Jon
It was incredible. There are times when I can't take anymore of the cable news bullshit- and one of those times is now- especially after last week. The Daily Show is a perfect antidote to the heartburn that Chris Matthews brings on.

2. Beautiful to behold
The segment with Rob Cordry was exceptional. A total indictment of the media that was funny as hell.

5. WOW, that clip of the Swift Boat Liar was incredible!
I don't remember who it was, but they showed that video clip of him praising Kerry! Damning!

I'm panic stricken, folks. I'm really worried, tonight, that Bush might win this election. :( Can anyone tell me something optimistic? I'm just not seeing progress. The media is totally against us.

6. The name was George Elliot
The same guy that withdrew his first affidavit and apologized in the Boston Globe and then took it back the next day.

7. But the people hate George. He won't win it but he may still be able to
steal it again. Remeber that the media have purchased Dubya. They bought a lemon and most of the country appreciates him as such. They need to keep touting their purchase because they paid a ton of money for his services, but it's wearing very thin with the public.

19. I love that explanation.
I want more disappointed Americans, though.

Damn I love the Daily Show. It's kept me barely sane for around 7 years now.

9. Why don't other news shows show the CLIP of Elliott, contradicting himself
the way Stewart does!? This is the most powerful way of using TV to show the truth. Why is he the only one doing it? (Like his exposing of "talking points" etc.)

11. It's not the media, it's the Kerry campaign
Edited on Mon Aug-23-04 10:54 PM by qwertyMike
GET ON WITH THE FRIGGIN' CAMPAIGN ALREADY

Say the Vet issue is closed as far as you are concerned. Over. Done.

Get to the issues where you can kill Bush: Jobs, Health Care, Outsourcing, Security, Exit plan for Iraq, Deficit.
Let them rave on about Vietnam if they want to.

POUND THE ISSUES

12. Here's an anecdote for today
My sister was in a diner yesterday. We live on Long Island and while we may be moderate now there's plenty of Bush country around here in the classic Archie Bunker style. So a family that answered to that general description came in and sat at the next booth. Loud in voice and clothing and typical Lawn Guylanders. My sister wasn't paying attention until her automatic radar signaled that a poltical conversation was taking place. What was being said was

Wife: I'm afraid Bush is gonna win again.
Husband: Waddya mean? He didn't win the first time. Ya mean you're afraid he's gonna steal it again?
Wife: Yeah

That might not mean much to you if you're from a different place, but there was a time when you could guarantee that people who looked and sounded like these folks would be voting for the more conservative candidate. Sure, we're a blue state anyway, but that's not the point. This is part of the demographic that Reagan won away from the Democrats. Bush gave them back.

13. Hi Ronkonkoma!
It really is important because there are local elections that mean so much. People out on The Island vote for Kerry will put Dem politicians in local offices. Well, hopefully.

Nice hearing your story tonight!

17. Yes. I want to see more of that in the next few weeks.
Lawn Guylanders. Haha.

I guess I've been running into the staunchest idiots. Man! And the news has been absolutely sickening. Even the most liberal Canadian broadcasts that I depend on, are now focussed on Kerry's war record. I mean, come on! And we only have, what, sixty days? The worst part is, I can't even imagine how horrible four years of this group of arrogant criminals would be on me, let alone my remote mute button. Phew. Somehow, I think you're right though. I wish this nightmare were over now.

I also think I'm fearful, because it's not the media's fault. It's the people who are buying the media's garbage who are at fault. And I'd be a lot more comfortable if Kerry's numbers were much much wider. The closeness (or at least reported closeness) is indicative of a very ignorant population.

And I'm sure he will be Brilliant on Jon's tomorrow night.

This is just a sluggish time.. This too shall pass!

why should the media be with you? there job is to mediate and discuss and not to take sides.that is why it is called the media.

31. Huh? (sheesh) 'media' is the plural for 'medium'
It has absolutely nothing to do with 'mediate.' Cable is a news and entertainment medium; the airwaves are a public medium for broadcasting; paper is the print medium.

There is absolutely nothing 'wrong' with any person lawfully using the broadcast, print, or cable media (i.e. broadcast medium, print medium, or cable medium) "taking sides." Advocacy is at the heart of democracy. The moral and ethical issue arise when falsehoods are peddled as fact.

about these repulsive liars.

Thanks Jon.

And thanks for the post Cleita.

Looking forward to John Kerry Tuesday night.

And a very, very sincere thank you to all Veterans. I believe President Kerry will be there for all of you.

28. Yeah, I know
I'll watch the rebroadcast at 9am on Wednesday. I'd just rather see it than the game anyway, especially with everything that's been going on. *sigh*

And hubby came home from work and said he's taking the next two days off so it will be hard to have my usual newsjunkie stuff on the TV. (He keeps telling me it's not healthy. LOL)
