I break myself down, and my ideals, into several tiers. I can be conservative in my own values and ideas and how they relate to me and those who share the same faith (or denomination as the case may be) and yet keep those seperate from politics and how one runs our nation/state/city.
For those who hold a similar ideology/faith/philosophy I can make comments which relate to how one reacts within that core value sytstem and thus hold, in some ways, a 'conservative' view of matters, while still seeing a more liberal view of government and how it interacts with the populace at large.
Some may post such ravings simply to bring them to light and to discuss them so that they have a well rounded view of things - something which we are all, I think, desiring as having only one view is not a good idea some believe. Open minds and all. I have questioned my faith over time, and I question those in the dem party who don't live up to standards.
To believe we are right and all others wrong is to be no better than those we berate for doing the same thing. Let them post the conservative view so we can analyze and understand fully in complete public view our position and how it relates, and how it is better for all. Debate, decide, analyze, and discuss the views people hold - but as noted (in a general sense) in your post keep a wary eye on those ideals put forth from sources who only hold a singular view. When outsiders (if you will) come here they can see the conservative view and see out replies to it, and perhaps it will open their mind when they read well thought out responses.
Ok, Kerry is not perfect, we can find fault in him too. But that still does not mean * is better. Let them post their swift boat threads, no matter because overall we know and can show that Kerry cares more about the little guy than * ever will. No need to deride, education and factual information will sway the swing votes and may even get some conservatives (and/or libertarians) to see that Kerry is a better choice. Engage, explain, and educate people with facts. Kerry represents the people en masse, * cares more about the big guys. We can show them that despite his faults, Kerry is still the better man for the job.
What I think they want is an emotional debate, and a debate centered around a few things while they ignore the bigger issues. They want to attack the man and not the ideals, because they know that the people will side with the ideals when they see them laid out.
But I am wandering off track - I do want to say in closing though that I hope we hold Kerry's feet to the fire as much as we do *'s when he is office. We need him there to do a job, we need him to work for us as hard as some have worked to get him into the office. I don't want to give him a pass on things because we like him/want him/need him. Let's get him in, and then help him in any way we can, while at the same time making sure he does the job we need him to do.
The fear mongers and corporate whores had their term, let's throw em out and get a real man in office. Not a perfect man, but one a whole helluva lot better than the guy we have now.
Let em post, we will answer. Freedom to the people, freedom for all, and no more whores in office who want to run an old boy network which kills our kids for their own desires. We will call Kerry on his problems when he has them as president, but I will damn sure be happy to be bitching about his actions as president (when needed) than I am about *'s.
And if we lose? Then we keep working. The right wing would love to see us demoralized and sad. Screw that. If we lose we work harder, smarter, and we get our asses in gear and keep on grinding. We don't give up, we don't give in, we never quit. We don't move away, we don't whine and cry, we get back in the saddle and keep on cranking away. We expose, we enlighten, we work to show others that freedom and love are the core values we hold.
Sigh, I am rambling again :) sorry about that! I just get fired up sometimes while writing.
