AOL users-- freeped straw poll?
Since this got no attention last time I posted it, I'm posting it again.

For months, the AOL straw poll has showed Kerry in a strong lead. Within about a week, however, the poll swung pretty far the other way, too far, it seems, to be a natural progression.

Check it out, vote, post, whatnot.

1. A while back
In the campaign forum I suggested that a separate forum be set up for "DU this poll" type threads so they wouldn't disappear off the first page so fast. Plus you could go to the forum once a day and vote in all the polls all at once.

2. Something Sure Happened
I posted about that interactive poll on an AOL rant thread over the weekend. If the AOL poll was by any stretch correct, the election would be over today. My guess is someone's dicked with the settings to "influence" undecideds -- or those idiots who use post on their message boards. The thing is an embarrassment and needs to be shut down.

I don't even go there anymore. Life is too short, and there are too many other reputable places to go to get the information I need.

5. It kind of shows you how fucked the electoral college is, though
Bush has 54% to Kerry's 45 ...

But Bush has 398 electoral votes to Kerry's 140? What kind of shit is that?

Now I realize that this whole thing is bullshit, but still, its really pathetic that a margin of 9 percentage points can net you almost three times as many electoral votes as your opponent.

Then again, depending on How Diebold swings things, this is how it could look on election night.
