ABC/Jennings Give Republican Conv. Extra Time - Tell Them What You Think
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 05:50 PM by autorank
KOS just pointed out that the three networks are covering three nights for the Republicans just like they did for the Democrats. But, noooo, ABC has to kiss ass a little better. ABC's Peter Jennings is doing a Monday Night Football 1/2 time special on the Republican Convention. This is in addition to ABC's three days!

What a bunch of ... well, you all know that.

Let them know what you think. Here's the link.

1. Not to sound as though I'm defending the.........................
scuzzy-assed networks, but the big three covered the Dem Convention for about an hour each night on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Kerry's acceptance speech on Thursday.

2. 3 Prime Time Hours for Each Party - 1/2 time is extra
The Dems got three prime time hours over four nights. Remember Obama's speech was not carried on the networks. You are a person of very good, impeccable taste, I am sure, so you watched C-Span perhaps. Fear not, you do not have to defend the scuzzy ones. This is ABC's gift to Bush. Remember, they're the same folks (Disney/ABC) who wouldn't release F911.

Send them an email guilt free. This is blatant favoritism.

3. Um.... Actually No, They Didn't...
The NutWorks only covered Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. They skipped Tuesday, which had Obama's keynote...

You probably remembered seeing Tuesday events on MSRNC, CNN or C-SPAN...

A bit more convenient because you don't have to hunt it down on their website.

19. Here is my sample e-mail:
Glad to know that Disney/ABC is so strongly controlled by the current presidential administration that a movie like Farenheit 911 can be held from release and that the Republican Convention can receive greater prime-time coverage.

I think it's fantastic that ABC has stooped to FoxNews' level when it comes to being an unabashed shill for the current administration. It makes it easier to know where not to turn for real news.

Also, you may want to pass this onto ABC Sports, but I like my football without politics, so, when they cover the convention during halftime of a Monday Night Football game, I will be turning the channel and keeping it turned until the following Monday night.

This is unacceptable. ABC's coverage of the 2000 election was biased, the coverage of the Iraq war buildup was criminally negligent, and now, ABC is doing its best to keep the status quo.

Consider me a former viewer--with prejudice.

P.S. with a primetime lineup like ABC's, I'd be concerned about losing any viewers.

11. Sorry ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, FAUX and C-Span,
I'll get all my convention coverage from DU.

I think that the RNC will not have anything worth watching. I expect half of the coverage to be in the streets.

12. ABC is coming out with a 24 hour news channel - I saw it advertised the
other day - they were saying to call your cable provider and ask for it. Did anyone else see the ad (or a similiar ad)?

18. Could somebody give an actual schedule here?
During the DNC, ABC gave three hours, one each on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They also started ABC News Now, a 24/7 outfit for those who have certain cable companies or an ATSC tuner in range of certain ABC affiliates. During the DNC, there was no Monday Night Football.

If, during the RNC, they are locked into Monday Night Football and can only give a halftime report, might they be giving less than three hours if halftime is less than an hour? Is ABC adding another hour outside of the Monday Night Football slot?
