Media SO asleep at the wheel - point from A Brown CNN tonight
It is completely befuddling how successful the * smokescreen re the Swift Boat Liars, and the tactics being used. Aaron Brown made a point, something like Kerry volunteering vs Bush avoiding Vietnam....the avoiding is being overwhelmed by the Swift Boat liars smear - then he had Harwood from WSJ (odd choice) and the Chi Tribune dot com person (who was not really offered anything meaty to comment on) - major point being that the Liars tossed so much shit, and the media bit on it without any questioning, that some of it ends up sticking no matter what Kerry does.

The zillion dollar question - WHY do the key points get lost so quickly - Kerry having to defend Heroism vs * hiding, the incredibly damaging tactics of slinging lies and shit hoping some sticks just to create a diversion - ARE WE SO STUPID THAT WE BUY IT (not us, but the half or so that have not run fleeing from the chimp).

Again, and Ive been saying this for months (years) - I just don't get it.....

And, I am disappointed with the lack of depth that Aaron Brown exhibited on the story tonight.

1. Well I like show - and O'Neil telling Nixon about Swift Boats in Cambodia
was worth the hour - just by itself!

I do love it when a liar is exposed to a few million folks!

:-)

3. I like the show too - but it holds back when it could do so much more....
I watch PBS newshour, then CNN newsnight, pretty much every day. Though much frustrates me, at least there is the occasional beacon of light...and, my frustration stated above wasn't really just at CNN, but both the TV and print media. Where is the outrage at these smear campaigns? It is just bewildering why this approach works...unless my suspicion that many Americans are brain dead is actually true. (probably way too much reality TV and fast food!)

4. maybe they're been through avoidance therapy
any negative thought of bush is punished. So any hint of getting near a negative bush thought triggers the avoidance.

it's like they're prisoners of war being tortured by the enemy.

6. No he hasn't. Did an excellent report on Swift Boat Liars last night.
Opened the show with something like "at some point the truth has to matter"

5. Kerry is on the back side of the curve
He is always on the defensive. And that is a lousing proposition if you want to win.
Kerry is the one that needs to be making the charges and Bush is the one that needs to play defense.
Have you seen the latest bush commercial? Where bush attacks Kerry's voting record? If Kerry wastes time trying to defend it he is a fool. He needs to attack bushes record and make him answer for it.

9. Exactly.
The media isn't passive or being duped. They are actively pushing the Chimperor.

10. he tries to go on offense, but the media doesn't let him
The media is clearly on Bush's side.

The media has failed to report the huge amounts of mud that Bush himself has generated against Bush.

The scandals of George Bush are the biggest scandals that this country has EVER produced in history.

Yet the media talks about THIS bullshit?

It's a sad, sad sad time in American history.

We will look back on this and wonder how it ever happened.
