Beyond the Swift Boat Controversy: Exposing Vietnam War Atrocities

We speak with Pulitzer prize-winning reporter Mike Sallah who uncovered massacres committed by U.S. troops in Vietnam on the scale of My Lai that had gone unreported for 36 years and we hear from former Army journalist Dennis Stout who witnessed U.S. soldiers atrocities committed by U.S. soldiers in Vietnam including raping and killing Vietnamese girl and skinning an unarmed Vietnamese man as well as how he was threatened by senior military officers when he tried to come forward.

Off to War: The Story of the Arkansas National Guard's Journey to Iraq

In April 2004, 57 citizen soldiers from Clarksville, Arkansas left their jobs and their families to serve in Iraq as members of the 239th Infantry of the Arkansas National Guard. Embedded with them is the brother filmmaking team of Brent and Craig Renaud who tell their story in a new documentary, "Off to War" featuring on the Discovery Times Channel.

3. If thats what you think its about...
you are going to be very disappointed. they are not anti-bush...the kids are backwoods hillbillies who dont even understand who theyre going to fight. at one point, a kid says i cant wait to get over to iraq and kill me some talibans....have fun with that show. its more of a disgrace than anything

4. This particular one featured on DN seems to be different
The clips shown were of poor whites and blacks saying they don't want to go to Iraq. One "hillbilly" dad said he's proud of his son but doesn't think he has any reason to go to Iraq.

5. Its the same show....
its been on discovery times about 10 times already. i have seen it. some of their family members dont want them to go. trust me, you are being mislead. its not anti-bush, nor is it anti-iraq. its not a bad show to get a glimpse of how young, immature, and completely naive these kids are, but dont go into it thinking its gonna break some new ground against the war.

6. DN says it's a new documentary
"...the brother filmmaking team of Brent and Craig Renaud who tell their story in a new documentary, "Off to War" featuring on the Discovery Times Channel."

Doing a quick Google, I found that part one aired in April, and that this segment featured on DN is part two.

"'Off to War,' a reality series in three parts from the always terrific Discovery Times Channel...Part 2 of 'Off to War' isn’t until August."
