1. I think lunaville does a more accurate count
the lunaville site lists them as unknown when first reported and then identifies them by name when info is released. They provide a link to every incident.

And while i don't think the military is particularly open or forthcoming about alot of info in Iraq, I do think they are fastidious in respect to reporting and identifying those servicemen killed.

2. Is this everybody?
It is my understanding that the military only reports deaths that actually occur in Iraq. If someone is injured and transfered to Germany or the US and THEN dies, it is not considered as a death in the Iraq war. I could be wrong, but that is what I've heard.

3. this is true. If ANY medical
attention is given and the wounded later die, it is not considered casualty of war, but died from 'complications' (which wouldn't have happened if not wounded in an illegal invasion) The military also does not have to $hell out the extra$ $ince it i$ not a ca$ualty.

4. My understanding is that this number includes
those that have been killed, but the identification and/or next of kin notifications haven't been completed yet. This does allow some room for error if a death is double reported for example.

"At times our total count can be rather larger than the numbers reported by some news organizations. We list a number of people as unidentified pending notification of next of kin. We count people as soon as they get killed, while others wait until they are named."
