What is the message Bush is giving our troops????
That you can serve your country now, but once again when you come home your going to be smeared, accused, called a lair and denied the truth of your service?? Why would he think that our troops would support that?? If I were fighting this senseless war, Bush might as well spit in my face, because that is what he is doing to all veterans of war, as well as the men and women currently fighting and loosing their lives to his war, and to all the families that deal with the fall out of it.
Shame on you Bush for disregarding the service of these men and women! SHAME ON YOU!

1. Yup...any veteran that votes for him is blinded by the rhetoric
He show how he feels about real veterans by his actions, not his words.

2. Welcome to DU.
You're right, bush has not been nice to his opponents who have been veterans. On the other hand, Kerry did not paint a pretty picture of Vietnam era vets during his testimony in front of Congress - while his complaint was directed at leadership at home - the repubs only point out how he described the actions of a few men in Vietnam.

This approach will cost Kerry votes among veterans.

3. BushCo doesn't have the capacity to reason from a to b.
They NEVER see consequences. They think they can do whatever they want and everything will still be the same, but somehow better.

Oddly, I've read that this is a symptom of fetal alcohol syndrome. Did Mama have a martini at the wrong moment in pregnancy?

4. Excellent question
my son is home on a short leave from Iraq. (he's a Marine). He's going back in a couple of weeks. He wasn't aware of the whole swiftboat smear campaign until he started watching CSPAN this week. He's appalled at what the Bushies are doing to a decorated combat veteran who is supported by a band of brothers. This ugliness plus the Bushie's not holding the brass responsible for Abu Gharab, though the grunts will serve prison time, has him very disillusioned.
