1. Quayle is the forgotten man in the GOP
Unlike other VP's Mondale and Gore for instance who still command attention and respect, nobody pays attention to little Danny. No jobs with the Bush administration, no role at the GOP convention, not wanted as a surrogate. He must have lots of time for golf.

13. Poor Danny thought he was Poppy's natural successor
…then out of nowhere came Junior to usurp Danny's position. Danny and Marilyn were royally pissed, and hate * to this day:

As Marilyn Quayle bitterly told The Arizona Republic, “the caricature they made of Dan in ‘88 is George W. It’s him. It wasn’t true about Dan. But it is him. ... A guy that never accomplished anything. ... Everything he got, Daddy took care of.”

16. Oh no ...

It WAS true.

Dan couldn't handle himself in ANY situation except the golf course.

I heard a tale from a die-hard Republican in Indianapolis working for a computer services organization. On day they went to Dan Quayles think tank for a little Q&A time. He drew the job of teaching Dan Quayle how to use word.

He said it was the most frustrating task he ever had. That was from a REPUBLICAN.

I never could convert him to a Democrat. But he still KNEW that Dan Quayle was a moron.

Oh yeah, and they BOTH got out of the draft by getting daddy to pull them a national guard post. At least Quayle served out his duties.

6. Run damn you, RUN! Don't
even listen to him.

Prediction:

Hanky: "Mr. VP, you were so maligned when you... but how does it feel to be proven so right?"

Q: "Well, I thank you Shawn, but there are many who still feel... and that just shows the gap in American values between Kerry and Bush..."

Ug!

8. Let's see if Dan Quayle says any variations on these these....
...quotes he made in the past:

This election is about who's going to be the next President of the United States!

This President is going to lead us out of this recovery.

Unfortunately, the people of Louisiana are not racists.

Verbosity leads to unclear, inarticulate things.

Votes are like trees, if you are trying to build a forest. If you have more trees than you have forests, then at that point the pollsters will probably say you will win.

We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur.

We don't want to go back to tomorrow, we want to go forward.

That last one George Bush has pretty much followed by going forward into yesterday:eyes:

9. Didn't he also say something about speaking Latin in Latin America?
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 03:24 PM by DesertedRose
On edit: here we go. The article's about Cheney, but scroll down...

"But Mr. Bush doesn't like to fire anyone. He is likely to repeat the mistake his father made in the 1992 campaign when he was urged to dump Dan Quayle as running mate, but, instead, stuck with the guy who couldn't spell potato and thought -- or so it was said of him -- that they spoke Latin in Latin America."

And this, from 1999 (scroll to the bottom):
