So I'm watching a little CNN headline news this morning when Comcast breaks into their standard craptacular local ad feeds with their hilariously titled "News Break" or whatever.
So, what do I then get five minutes of?
Cute kitty story?
Tale of hometown boy made good?
Random violence du jour?
Nope...I get an "interview" with Rep. Mark Kirk (Republican, 10th district).
He spends the entire time providing a "public service" by warning the public of the mass exodus of trained medical specialists from the state due to crippling jury awards from malpractice suits.
The way he painted it, and I quote, "The most important issue to people living south of i-80 is the lack of trained specialists in their hospitals."
Really? I thought they'd be more concerned with not having the health insurance to even go near the hospital. But I guess I'd be wrong.
The "interviewer", a swollen doormat of a woman who helped keep Mr. Kirk rolling didn't ask any follow ups, didn't provide an alternate point of view, and didn't have an opposition guest to provide an alternate viewpoint.
This amounted to a five minute GOP platform rant paid for and broadcast by Comcast. It was shameful.
Do I have any recourse other than an angry letter and cancelling my service? Is it within their purview to provide Republican talking points without an opposition viewpoint during an election season?
*sigh*
Probably so...but damn if this ain't a hateful country these days.
