I don't know which is worse...the GOP platform on gay marriage...
or the Log Cabin Republicans.

Last night, on "Hardball", Chris Matthews talked about the (not surprising to me) unbelivably hateful plank in the GOP platform regarding recognition of same sex couples...which would deny ANY legal protections or benefits to gay couples...NO gay marriage, NO civil unions, NO domestic partnerships. Just a screed of vicious homophobia. It was as if the Family Research Council and the Concerned Women of America singlehandedly wrote this disgusting piece of shit.

The worst part about the "Hardball" segment was when Patrick Gueirro(sp), head of the Log Cabin Republicans, actually PAUSED when Matthews asked him if he was going to vote for Bush, given the GOP's official stance (which is what a party platform is) on gay marriage.

Goddammit. Once an Bush ass kisser, always a Bush ass kisser, I guess.

1. Was this the guy who said "lipstick on a pig" yesterday?

It must be.

This is rather amusing. Their "wedge" issues end up giving THEM a wedgie! They are choking on the bile of their own hatred.

:toast:

3. I saw that too...this is extremely saddening
Log Cabin Republicans...it is like Black people who join the KKK or the freerepublic

They might not say it openly, but I don't think they'll vote for Bush.

This is just another example of "compassionate conservatism" ... :puke:

6. They are more afraid
of losing the power affirmation their right wing psyches need in the GOP. They don't want to be cast out much less join the Democrat plebeians.

It's about power and no, in the secrecy of the voting booth they very likely will viciously slam the lever for Kerry.

Arrogance and pride put them out on this limb. They may not lead any cleansing of the neocon idiots from the leadership, but they may hope for it after. It might occur to them anyway that they cannot be allowed to participate in moderating or leading or anything in the party structure regardless if it is inept RW extremists or so-called moderates.

They never face their permanent second class status in their chosen place of political pride. Blacks have a better chance.

4. Republicans are utterly out of the mainstream
A big majority of Americans have no problem with things like domestic partnership and same-sex benefits.

5. what do you mean "as if"?
It was as if the Family Research Council and the Concerned Women of America singlehandedly wrote this disgusting piece of shit.

I'm pretty sure they did. That's who's running the GOP. We downplay them at our peril.

7. Have you been watching the conservatives on c-span 2
They're voting on the party platform. I never seen a more hateful group of people in my life. they're attacking women, children, gays, public schools, the enviroment, health care and basically everybody on earth. The last time I looked they were fucking the Palestians. I'm going to start calling them the "misery loves company" crowd. Spreading pain and suffering is their job. They even LOOK evil. I've came to the conclusion that there is NO differance between OBL and Pat Robertson. they're both 'happiness haters".
