Hastert said NYC is greedy (really he did)

9/11 SLAP AT APPLE

House Speaker Dennis Hastert is charging in a new book that New York lawmakers' attempts to win financial aid after the 9/11 attacks amounted to an "unseemly scramble" for money.

Just days before the GOP convention is set to begin in the city — and three years after the catastrophe from which many city businesses have yet to recover — the Illinois Republican's ugly slap at the Big Apple infuriated New York legislators.

"The only thing unseemly is the three years it has taken us trying to get the president and Congress to fulfill their promise," said Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.).

He writes that right after the Sept. 11 attacks "we heard voices asking 'Who's going to pay for this? How much will it cost?'

"The unseemly scramble for dollars had begun," says Hastert, one of the most powerful Republicans in the country.

1. Welcome, Republicans.
The party that always expects the OTHER guy to pay for what they do.

That wicked fool is one death-by-idiocy and a heart attack away from the presidency. Now *that's* terrorism.

3. Oh they're GREEDY, are they?
Pot, meet kettle. I guess hastert ought to know all about greed, as a modern-day republi-CON, or, as another DUer aptly puts it -a "MEpublican."

Sounds like a good MEME to repeat. And repeat. And repeat.

The city most severely hit on 9/11, the city that's about to be SHAMELESSLY exploited because of 9/11, the city whose people were lied to about the ferocious post-attack toxicity of their air quality, the city whose firefighters and police officers (many of whom gave their lives that day - since they originally WERE NOT in the twin towers at any office jobs) are chiseled and ignored, the city that was promised recovery money from the feds, only to have it vanish into the thin air of those same vaporous, meaningless promises, the city that WAS A TARGET (and may still be one) of direct terrorist action - that now can't get as much Homeland Security money as some cow pasture in the midwest (population maybe 5 or 6) - yeah. That city is GREEDY.

That city, which is one of the WORLD capitals, on whose back most of our country's business community directly rests, on whose financial institutions are the monetary backbone of the rest of the planet - THAT city is derided by this manipulative, calculating, mean-spirited, CHEAP-ASS know-nothing.

JUST shameful.

And what timing! Are they really so ready to concede New York to the Democrats that they're gonna diss New York AS THEY PREPARE to overrun the city and cause it tremendous inconvenience for more than a week? This guy's party's policies, and "leaders" have singlehandedly done MORE damage to New York, the city AND the state, and in fact, it's THEIR policies that exacerbated (if not brought us, OUTRIGHT) disasters like 9/11 and threaten to provoke MORE - he should talk.

I hope New York has a LOT to tell hastert and his pals in November.
