Wonder what they're smoking at the Reader's Digest?
I just saw the cover with pictures of Kerry and Bush on the front. It says "Exclusive interviews" and "Which man can unite the country?"

I personally think Kerry can unite at least the part of the country that isn't rabid Bush followers, but they've got to be kidding about Bush.

1. Bush Has His Own Way Of Uniting People
Every day, more and more people hate his guts.

2. Give Bush 4 more years and we'll all be united
In poverty, hatred, and depression.

3. how can bush unite the country except against him?
he only talks to people who have already sworn allegiance.
that isn't giving much space to the undecided.

perhaps he will unite the country AGAINST him. that's my hope anyway.

4. Not so fast.
Bush has united more of the country than any politician in recent memory. Of course, we're united AGAINST HIM. . .

7. Reader's Digest is a right wing rag
I used to browse through it in my orthodonist's waiting room 'cause I was bored.

It's not worth the paper it's printed on. Not to mention a good 25% of the spams I get on my Yahoo account (which I use purely to divert spam from my real email), is Reader's Digest crap.

They certainly got that part right!

8. The regular Reader's Digest is for morons who can't finish a real book
They've been conservative to the point of being a joke for decades. They're the source Reagan claimed for all his news on world affairs. They're great if you're both dim and locate your only reading room in the vicinity of the throne.

The nearest lefto analog would be Utne, but they print whole articles.

Reader's Digest is a great magazine for old folks with failing eyesight, I'll give them that much. They've been great about putting out large print and audio versions, something I wish other magazines would consider.

If they'd only change their editorial focus...

17. Hear, hear!
I liked it as a child--easy reading. But every other story is a "miracle from Jesus".

Even the vocabulary tests became too easy after, oh, 13 or so.

13. Neither one can
end of story.

If Kerry wins, and Bush actually hands over power, then Kerry will be immediately impeached.

On what grounds? Who knows. But you will see the media just go crazy and attack Kerry on all fronts.

survive another 4 years of him trying to "unite us".

15.  I read the articles and interviews
The were skewed to the right, but not as much as I thought they would be, and the article on Bush did have a fair amount of criticism.

Suffice it to say that any org. or media that hosts Tucker Carlson on a habitual basis, including now PBS, can be safely assumed to suck.

19. The Reader's Digest is a rightwing rag from way back
I recall picking it up at my mother's house back in the 1980s and seeing articles by the likes of Jeane Kirkpatrick and Edwin Meese, telling Amurkans why the Reagan administration was the only hope for This Great Land of Ours.

Any publication that features crossfire's bowtie idiot as a contributing editor is beneath contempt. (IMHO)

21. Seen it
The cover clearly uses a Puke talking point, that being Shrub is a "uniter." Even the tag line on the cover is biased. I have not read RD in many a year, but I can hardly imagine it attempting to attract anyone even slightly left of center.
