In what way do freepers think this war makes us free?
I keep hearing how the US soldiers in Iraq are making/keeping us "free." Now, I have total respect for them doing the duty they signed up for and being willing to defend our country, but I have a hard time understanding in what way we are being kept "free". Do the Freepers really think the Iraqis were going to come over here, take us over and make the women all wear burkas? Of course I know some terrorists want to try to blow things up here but the idea they could take over our country makes me laugh. I can't believe Freepers really think that. Are they a bunch of wimps that they were all awake every night worrying that the Arabs were "coming to get us?" Can someone who understands the freeper brain explain to me?

1. I think it means we are being made free to continue to pursue our greedy
lifestyle. Obviously the only thing we are defending is our God given right to steal someone elses resources.

2. Bush said so, it must be true.
"Can someone who understands the freeper brain explain to me?"

That's the best I can do. You can throw any amount of facts at a freeper, and he'll refuse to believe it. But if Bush says something it's automatically true.

3. A Freeper believes in freedom the way the Nazis did
"freedom" (or at least a convincing illusion as long as you are loyal to Volk Vuhrer Vaterland) for themselevs.

Silencing, intimidation, oppression for the Godless Traitors who disagree with them.

The only difference, and I am not certain it will remain that way, between them is the degree of violence they practice and OVERT racism.

Free to spend us further into dept.
Free to put fear in everyones little head.
Free to push right wing agenda.
Free to attack what ever country they wish.

I was told by a RW lugnut that we have too many rights anyway!

7. Since Iraqi women didn't wear burkas, how would they enforce that here?
The Iraqi women enjoyed quite a lot of freedom, especially compared to the rest of the Middle East.

Of course, that may all come to an end now, since the country may be taken over by the fundamentalists.

13. You are right
I knew that, I just didn't stop to think when I was typing. Too bad things will probably change for them when the warlords take over. What acomplishments we have made there, eh?

14. Yeah, I think we all are suffering from "info overload" ^_^
Too much garbage to remember, and most of it stinks. :)

What accomplishments are "we" going to accomplish in Iran? In Syria?

It's all just too overwhelming for me to think about.

I'M DAMNED ASHAMED OF MY COUNTRY!

Sadly, I heard a recent eulogy on TV for a Iraq war soldier: He died so that OTHERS may be free.

11. I admire any soldier
who fights hard believing in his/her heart that he/she is fighting to keep us free. My heart goes out to them. It's just a shame they have been duped into thinking that's what they're doing.

9. War makes us free.
Meanwhile, the Patriot Act only effects the freedom of evil-doers. "You're not checking out commie books from the library, so why should you worry?"

It's not about "freedom". It never has been. They don't hate us because of our "freedom" (A Puke meme that I despise, BTW), they hate us because we want to control their resources and establish a military presence on their lands.

Had we left them alone, they'd leave us alone. (Disclaimer to that last sentence: I'm not even talking about our blind alliance with Israel. That's a whole 'nother can 'o worms, which has nothing to do with 9/11 or Iraq)

10. junior is making us feel free, so he can dictate with ease -
Kind of like the way the cable networks do, they want to do our thinking for us without questioning their motives.

12. Freepers feel they have achieved "freedom" to force others
to live by the religious code of their choice. Never mind that noone has ever told them that they aren't free to worship as they please in the church of their choice. They don't understand choice to involve each individual's free will. That man's free will is--if you will--his God given right to chose NOT to participate in a belief system or to chose differ in opinion. They also have a problem seeing that ethics and morality do not need to be associated with a belief system couched in religous dogma. I am a Christian by teaching, but I believe there are many paths to God and God is known by many names. I also believe there are good and moral people in very land and culture, including Christians.

15. Why, you'll be free to have cheap gas and drive SUV's!!!
Of course, the conquest is doomed and this will all backfire, but isn't it noble for our boys and girls to die and be maimed to steal oil?
