Request from another board (NYC Protest Event)
Someone on the Hannity board that likes my infiltration has asked me to post this on all the boards to which I belong, so here you go:

A29 Direct Action Feeder March
A29 Direct Action Feeder March
Sunday, Aug 29 @ 12:00 PM

Location: Meet at Columbus Circle, New York City, NY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A29 Direct Action Feeder March

Take back our city! Open the way for the UFPJ!

Meet Sunday, August 29th at 12pm at Columbus Circle

Mayor Bloomberg and his Republican puppetmasters have made a grave mistake in stonewalling United for Peace and Justice’s efforts to secure a permit for a rally at Central Park: they have underestimated the people of New York City.

We, those intent on liberating our city from Republican occupation, will be gathering in Central Park on August 29th, but we will not content ourselves to playing frisbee or having a picnic in the park. We will take the streets and we will march southward toward Madison Square Garden in an attempt to open the way for the UFPJ’s massive march.

The mayor and his police have shown no intention of allowing any “northward movement” beyond 35th St; but as their barricades and officers face south in an attempt to hold back the masses, we will arrive from the north to reclaim our streets, and open the way towards Central Park.

Anyone who witnessed the UFPJ’s February 15th march and rally remembers that it was our numbers, our spontaneity and our defiance that allowed us to regain some control over our streets. It was the overwhelming number of feeder marches that made their pens and permits obsolete.

That is why we are calling on all those who refuse to surrender their autonomy and their city to the convention planners to join us in an unpermitted, defiant march to open the way for the UFPJ! We also encourage all to plan their own feeder marches and actions to coincide with the great march and rally of that day.

Meet at 12pm at the southwestern corner of Central Park (8th Ave. and W. 59th St.). Arrive by subway at the Columbus Circle stop (A,C,B,D, 1, and 9 trains).

1. I think the NYC police read emails
and they will be ready. Personally, I don't think confrontation that may well lead to violence is the way to do things. It will play right into the Rethug's hands-they will say that liberals are wild-eyed radicals who want domestic violence and use it as an excuse to shut down the city if not the country as they tout Shrub as a moderate.

Please, no violence!

2. DUers aren't too receptive to this protest.
you are probably wasting your time posting that here. Post it on the more progressive boards.

3. UFPJ is suggesting that ...
everyone make their way south to Union Square after the March then, as there will be no rally, disperse quietly. They then suggested that a picnic lunch by all "individuals" on the Great Lawn would be nice.

No Confrontations, No Violence. EXERCISE OUR RIGHTS TO PEACEABLY ASSEMBLE AND FREE SPEECH ONLY.

We will be heard by our sheer numbers, not mindless confrontations with police that are just trying to do their jobs.
