So Israel has a spy in the Pentagon. No surprise here
no one seems too shocked or outraged at the news, but it just broke last night on cbs. i don't think it comes as a big shock that israel has a hugely unbalanced influence on american policies concerning the arab nations in the middle east. this is certainly not news to anyone who's been paying attention for the last several decades.

and i doubt that it will have any negative effect on bushkkko. no one cared when they stole the election and started a war based on lies and killed thousands of innocents. this will hardly register on the scandal scale.

once americans accepted torture of arab prisoners as justifiable, which they have, literally any atrocity or war crime becomes passe'.

and of course, supporters of israel will say that israel is a democracy and it is our duty to support them, supply them with billions in aid and billions in weaponry. of course, the palestinians will still fight them as oppressors, and the blood will continue to flow as an offering to the god of abraham, worshipped by jews, arabs and christians.

old news. nothing new here. standard procedure. move along please.

18. The US would love nothing for than for Israel to take out any nuke
reactor in Iran. I personally think this spy story again deflects blame from Bush for lying to go to war. He can now point to "them" and say "they" did it, not me. It's Israel's fault for pounding the drums of war.

Bush is more a teflon "president" than Ray-gun could have dreamed. Very little sticks to him.

2. And don't forget, critiscm of Israel=Anti-Semitism
Edited on Sat Aug-28-04 06:18 AM by BiggJawn
You can't critize Israel in this country w/o being called a Nazi..

Cool, a cellie for John Pollard...Is he still in prison, or did he get shipped to Tel Aviv?

4. despite
denying that he worked for Israel, spied for them and turned over extremely sophist. codes and ciphers, he remains in US prison.

Yet, every year, and every new administration, Israel raises the issue of having him released. So far, every member of the intel networks has uniformly said no effin way.

Chances are he will never leave.

6. i've been called a jew hater for criticising israel
and i'm somewhat used to it. even had a guy call me up and threaten me one time. and i DON'T hate jews. i love the 3 stooges, streisand, the marx brothers, mel brooks, several musicians i work with, several business associates, all wonderful people.

but i don't like the blind support of a questionable and oppressive nation, which sometimes uses nazi like tactics on the palestinians.
and their shared god laughs at them from above.

12. You can see the spin coming out of this
Just like with Jonathan Pollard.

AIPAC is very, very influential, and has tried to trash careers of those who favor a more even-handed approach in the Middle East.

You can bet that as this thing gets heated up, you'll hear cries of "anti-semitism!" as though somehow making sure Israel doesn't dictate America's foreign policy and favoring putting Jews in gas chambers is morally equivalent.

I know there's a great deal of anti-semitism, for sure (witness Sasha Baron Cohen's "Borat" character's C&W singalong), but this, folks has gone too far, and it is not anti-semitic to say that knee-jerk support for Israel and Zionism may not be in America's best interest.

17. I am a Jew, and critisizing Israel does not make you a Jew hater
The Yahoo message board on the other hand on this story do represent quite a lot of comments which is representative of people who hate Jews, just like the message boards on Yahoo talking about fundamentalist Arab terrorism have quite a lot of comments which is representative of people who hate Arabs.

This is a major news story, and I will be quite interested if the media covers it next week during the republican convention. If this story has legs, bush can be brought down

16. BULL!
This is quite serious. I believe Israel has a right to exist, but I am an American first, and if AIPAC or someone from the Likud party were spying on us, this is major news, and frankly bush should lose because of this.

Wolfiwiz and Rumsfeld should definitely resign if this is true.

What is troubling if you read Yahoo chat boards on this news story, and how they are painting all American Jews as traitors in this country who should be kicked out

That behavior is Anti-Jewish, critisizing Israel is NOT

3. I bet it's Wolfowitz
He's certainly smarmy enough. And he does appear to have connections to Sharon and Likud. He's probably "misdirected" a lot of classified U.S. documentation to Israel.

11. It's one of these two men:
Harold Rhode or Larry Franklin ...

See here:

What was international man of mystery Manucher Ghorbanifar up to when he met with top Pentagon experts on Iran? In a NEWSWEEK interview in Paris last month, Ghorbanifar, a former Iranian spy who helped launch the Iran-contra affair, says one of the things he discussed with Defense officials Harold Rhode and Larry Franklin at meetings in Rome in December 2001 (and in Paris last June with only Rhode) was regime change in Iran. Ghorbanifar says there are Iranians capable of organizing a peaceful revolution against the ruling theocracy. He says his contacts know where Saddam Hussein hid $340 million in cash. With American help, he says, this money could be retrieved and half used to overthrow the ayatollahs. (The other half would be turned over to the United States.) Ghorbanifar says he told his U.S. interlocutors that ousting the mullahs would be a breakthrough in the war on terror because top Qaeda leaders, including Osama bin Laden, are in Iran. ("You won't be surprised if you find that Saddam Hussein is on one of the Iranian islands.") Among other intel Ghorbanifar says he and associates gave the Pentagon: a warning that terrorists in Iraq would attack hotels. He also says he had advance info about Iranian nukes and a terrorist plot in Canada. Financial gain was never his objective, he says: "We wanted to give them the money, not to take the money."
