Could the timing had been any better for releasing the spy story ?
Everybody talking about the Swift Boat vets lies and their sliming of John Kerry, it's a Friday, and the Repub National Convention starts this weekend. Hey! Let's release the spy in the Pentagon story! We'll say it was a mid level office worker.... Smart, huh?

3. and spy means he talked to friend of Israel - who he worked for?
Edited on Sat Aug-28-04 09:27 AM by papau
So allies should not know our policy in their area?

Or they should learn of policy only late - via State Dept?

Looks like someone decided anti-jewish vote larger than jewish vote.

5. IZionists are criminals and Israel is no ally
It's a racist apartheid state that spreads hatred and brought us 9/11. Jonathan Pollard received a life sentence and so should the traitor in the Pentagon.

13. Silly me
I just didn't know the terrorists had democrats making excuses for their attacks on innocent people. I'm sure the terrorists appreciate that their efforts are validated by a major political party.

19. You are right. Zionist terrorists have democrats making excuses for them
Israeli influence on both parties, in the White House, Congress, Pentagon, CIA, State Department and media has been a problem for a long time. 9/11 was the inevitable result of US fealty to Israel and a natural reaction to US support for Zionist terrorism.

Not "caused 9/11". Are we wearing our Freeper hearing aid today?

14. Fellow talked to DC lobbyist - but much higher folks also talk to
lobbyist.

Either this is a Rove vote count decision

or it is a war withing Administration - someone trying to take down the neo-cons.

Spying is a good word to use to get an emotional response - but Israel is not about to do anything without our permission.

12. Why is being against Zionism equated with anti-semitism?
They are separate issues. Plenty of Jews were against the Zionist movement at the turn of the 20th Century when it began to gain momentum. Rabbi Lilienthal wrote a book, What Price Israel? back in the 50s that very presciently described the problems we would experience in the future due to the creation of Israel by force.

There are still many Jews around the world who do not believe in Zionism. Are they anti-semitic? This smacks of the current administration's logic: If you don't agree with everything we say and do, you are a traitor.

I happen to believe that the existence of Israel, if governed through democracy, diplomacy and the rule of law, can be a force for good in the Middle East. Yet there are many who disagree as is their right. If they don't have a problem with the Jewish religion or those who practice Judaism, where's the anti-semitism?

4. Both stories are going to cast a shadow over the convention
Edited on Sat Aug-28-04 09:34 AM by rocknation
If they'd come out next week, they'd have gotten no coverage at all. I'm not complaining.

P.S. Is anyone still scoffing at the idea that James McGreevey's blackmaing gay ex-lover might have been an undercover Mossad agent?

6. Wrong tree. This could be a disaster for them, could
mar the entire convention. I think the story was leaked by enemies of the WH.
