Sad Day When Colin Powell Can't Go To the Olympics
because of the commotion his being there will cause. Because other countries hate this administration so much they are willing to march in the streets. That has got to be a first in our history.

Bush went to Ireland and caused chaos in the streets. Bush can't even stay in New York because he isn't liked there. He is going to fly in and then fly out.

And then Clinton went to Ireland last week and brought out the crowds because they love him.

1. When Clinton went to Ireland last week, was there a massive
mobilization of police in riot gear like when Bush visited?

3. No, I don't think so
It was for a book signing and thousands showed up to see him. There were no agitators at all.

I saw in the paper this morning that he is going on to N. Ireland now.

I am so glad for him. After all he went through he deserves to be treated the way he is now - people just love him.

24. This country wasn't good enough to deserve him as President.
Edited on Sat Aug-28-04 02:29 PM by gore-is-my-president
Look at how the Right shit on him and was allowed to do so.

Most Americans are truly more deserving of a President like Bush: belligerent, obnoxious, gun-toting, death-penalty loving.

He fits right in with the stereotype of "The Ugly American."

Sigh.... why did my ancestors come here from the Netherlands? damn fools.

4. I don't think he can really go anywhere
without getting booed. They have to pre-select the crowd that he speaks to. He flies in and then flies out.

That is really pitiful.

10. That is exactly right, MaryH...
yet many Americans, unfortunately, are still fooled -- or uninformed. And you're right, it's a sad day when the U.S. Secretary of State, whoever holds that title, can't attend the Olympics. Bush has divided this whole world, with him or against him.

15. True -- some are ignorant, period, willfully or not, and I think others...
"can't handle the truth." They just can't accept that the leadership of our country is rotten through and through, and, it looks to my eyes, bent on our destruction!

regarding the last year of his tumble into the nadir of his political life.

5. Powell deserves it
He was the slient midwife to the theft of the election 2000 by standing by Bush and lending his credibility to the theft. He was the pitch-man for the Iraq invastion. He needs to walk the earth for the rest of his days in shame.

7. There were others there, too
Anyone who is moderate and stands with Bush is a big phony. I have no respect for McCain any more. Remember Pat Buchanan said there are no more conservative Republicans - there are only Right Wingers.

Now they are trying to put a moderate face on their convention - what a farce.

Convention over, Bush goes right back to the far right. They are only people who can stand him.

14. More than liked!
He was probably our most respected representative. He would have beat Bush in a landslide if he had wanted to run.

Now look at what has happened to him.

I really wish he would write a book and just tell the truth about what went on during this administration. I wish someone would.

9. THE REAL REASON COLON BOWELL DECIDED TO STAY AWAY.....
I suspect he got a call from Karl saying that it would not be good if the headline in Monday mornings papers was "RIOTS BREAK OUT IN ATHENS OVER U.S. POLICY" Not a good headline on the opening day of the GOP "LIPSTICK ON A PIG" Convention. Especially with all the "uncontrolled" media in attendance that would be forced to report the truth for a change.

11. Well, that too.
I think that would have made a good headline. But I think any headline that makes Bush look bad is a good headline.

I must admit - I don't even like the way he combs his hair. Felt the same way about Reagan and Nixon. Terrible hair.

and their people for being honest, and standing up to this cabal!! We owe them all a huge thanks for their honesty, and their willingness to make their dislike public!

He was part of the senior team that decided to invade iraq. If he was against the war, he should have resigned.

21. Here's two snippets from the Irish News in Belfast
from yesterday and today. Big Dawg rules in Northern Ireland and here's the proof:

“Posh and Becks of Politics Return 8-27-04
The US president whose efforts helped lead to the signing of the Good Friday Agreement came to Belfast yesterday for some signing of his own.

Bill Clinton was in a city centre bookstore to sign copies of his autobiography, My Life.

Hundreds of people queued for hours in the rain to meet the 58-year-old, who signed around 750 books in an hour and a half.” snip

and this one:

“County Has Friends in High Places 8-28-04
Former US president Bill Clinton is backing Fermanagh in today’s All-Ireland semi-final replay – and he has the shirt to prove it.

Mr. Clinton and his wife Hillary were given two tickets for the crucial rematch against Mayo during a visit to Enniskillen yesterday.

The couple were in the town – which like the rest of the Erne county has been swept up in All-Ireland fever – to visit a peace centre named after Mr Clinton, where they met relatives of victims of the Enniskillen bomb and schoolchildren.

He has often boasted of his links to Roslea, a village on the county’s border with Monaghan.” snip

Just in case anyone's interested Bill wasn't present in Croke Park, Dublin this morning. I saw the game during a live telecast by satellite this morning here in Chicago and if he had been there, you would of seen his face, for sure.

Also BTW Fermanagh lost to Mayo 1-8(11 points) to 13 points. If they had won, it would have been Fermanagh's first appearance in the All-Ireland Senior Football Final since it was established in 1884.

25. "Now look at what has happened to him."
It didn't happen to him. He brought it on himself. Powell has dishonered himself. He blatantly lied about WMDs then tried to back off of those lies by saying that he was given faulty intell. He has no integrity left.

"Saddam Hussein has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbours."
