The smear's the thing

We know that the media likes to play point/counterpoint with itself. That being the case, the swiftboat smear has got to be the big media story in the next 7-10 days. I mean the Big Picture Smear, not running around covering this lie here and that lie there, begging for apologies, and photo ops at the ranch. I mean an exhaustive investigation by the NYT, Wapo, and network (NOT cable) level where all the dots are connected, where the Rovian history is laid bare, and where the threat to democracy is spelled out in these terms: is this what a our kids are dying for in Iraq? Is this what we're trying to spread throughout the world? My guess is that one or two such stories are in the works right now, but it's still important that Kerry's campaign, progressive groups like Move.on, and individuals such as ourselves clamor for this story. Frankly I think gettiing it out there with clarity and urgency could very well mean the election.

1. You are quite right. I just called ABC,CBS,and NBC to inquire

why we are not getting any news of John Edwards campaign. He's been everywhere and is getting no national press coverage. On Monday I will call again about the "smear."
