Some Disturbing Results in Poll of 9/11 Families
How can they be less informed about how Clinton had Berger meet with Bush's transition team to discuss terrorism than we are? I guess I can understand that fear would have a lot to do with some of their opinions/decisions, but the lack of knowledge is very disappointing.

Of those questioned - 339 relatives or close friends chosen at random from listings compiled by The Times for the "Portraits of Grief" vignettes...
As for assigning blame, more of those interviewed blamed former President Bill Clinton than blamed Mr. Bush for the awful human damage inflicted on American soil that day....

...Mrs. Fairben, who described herself as a registered Democrat, said she expected to vote for Mr. Bush in November. She said Mr. Kerry's handling of attacks on his Vietnam record had not impressed her enough to win her vote.

Also, she said, "I agree with the president right now that we've got to keep doing what we're doing in Iraq, and I'm afraid to think what would happen if Kerry would undo that."
...
Colleen Spohr, a firefighter's widow who said she voted for Mr. Bush in 2000 and would do so again this year, placed the responsibility with Mr. Clinton.

"I believe Clinton knew a lot and didn't tell Bush about it when he came into office," she said.

*I hope this is the right forum. It involves the election only tangentially

6. Funny how they didn't blame Poppy Bush for Somalia,

though he sent the troops in there just before leaving office, or for the first WTC bombing, Oklahoma City, or the USS Cole. Maybe if he'd done things differently, those wouldn't have happened, especially the Somalia thing.

Of course, Clinton and the Dems in Washington didn't run around saying "This was Poppy Bush's fault."

JFK didn't blame Eisenhower for the Cuban Missile Crisis, either. Or for Ike's passing the Viet Nam problem on to him.

Now we have Dubya, who cannot think of a single thing he has done wrong as president!

7. I blame poppy bush every time it
rains. serious I lost my job when the Ford Plant closed under Bush 1 and I feel anger toward him every day. not rational but so what.

Just saying that sure people put lots of blame on Clinton. This doesn't even bother me not worth arguing over because Clinton is not on the ticket. If they think clinton is 50 percent responsible and Bushie Jr 50% responsible, well I just say clinton is over and done with so lets get rid of the bushie!

I don't argue over Clinton much because he is not running for office. I just point that out when people try to blame everything on him. It is a better use of my time than arguing in defense of Clinton all day, which still will not get them to vote for Kerry. Defending Clinton is not my number one priority. Getting Kerry elected is. I am a democrat, my Clinton is not my top priority right now sorry.

5. Yes, overall they split mostly like the general public
I just thought they might have been more informed as a whole, and that would skew the findings, overcoming the fear that Bush manipulates so well.

8. Whenever I get the Clinton blah blah responsible for 911,
I always answer that if the '93 WTC attack would have been successful, would they have blamed it on 12 years of Reagen-Bush?
I always get either silence, wrinkled faces, or mumbles but never a good counter-argument.

9. "I believe Clinton knew a lot and didn't tell Bush about it when he...
...came into office."

That is total bullshit!

Clinton gave Bush a detailed rundown on what he (Clinton) felt should be his successor's top five priorities in fighting terrorism. Catching Bin Laden was either at or near the top of the list, while going after Saddam Hussein was at the bottom.

And what did Bush tell Clinton? "I'm going after Saddam."

ARE YOU LISTENING, COLLEEN SPOHR??? :grr::nuke:

10. yes, but I think they say this
just to try to get us off track. So that instead of stumping for Kerry we are defending Clinton. I don't let it work. I think it is one of their tricks. They don't like it when we focus on winning. Better for us to spend our time defending someone who has been out of office for years and is not running. I am very suspicious of the Bushies. they are extremely manipulative.

11. One poll of 339 anonymous relatives vs the Jersey Girls and their
personal stories of pain and fighting bushco for what's right.

Who do you think gets more media face time and has a greater impact on the American public?

12. Its because our leaders didn't fight back on this one
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 02:29 AM by sampsonblk
The party leadership didn't fight back on this one. Same as the Swift boat crap. So this is "established fact" now for many people. For many others, its at least plausible. Where are our party leaders????????????????

Any wonder why so many people think we are the weak party?
