Unconfirmed: Cops, Secret Service attacked at Penn Station. 6 Injured
I have received this information. I don't know if it's true. The info is that cops/Secret Service were attacked at Penn Station with a sheet of glass. 6 injured. 2 badly. I was in Penn Station tonight coming back from the DU party. I did see Secret Service there so this is possible. Keep an eye out. If this is true, these are criminals, not anti-war protesters.

1. I hope it's not true...
the media and Repubs wouldn't make a distinction between criminals and anti-war protesters.

2. How do you attack someone with sheet glass?
Sounds like that incident with the anti-Bush banner. The only person hurt was a cop who fell through a sky-light and needed several hundred stitches. Apparently the protestors had been warning him it wasn't very safe to be standing on it.

17. 38 stitches was what the idiot who stood on the cracked sky-light got.
Tales growing taller on down the line?

5. That sounds like pretty specific info...
Let's hope it's not true, but with it being so specific, I would think that there may be something to it.

7. I'll let this stay here another 15 minutes or so
waiting for a link or some confirmation on a news channel, then we'll have to shift it over to GD for a bit.

9. I just heard from a pal who rode Penn st. to NJ. All trains but his xcled.
He plays in the pit of a Broadway show. He said the number of uniforms of every stripe has gone way up on the street.

All the trains going to NJ had been cancelled but his.
It sat in the station for a long time with smoke coming from somewhere and no one announcing what was going on while uniforms swarmed the place.

They were told to get off the train and go upstairs. Then they were told to get back on after people obeyed and went upstairs. The smoke continued as they left stranding many people who had gotten off of the last train out of Penn for the night.

An assistant conductor finally made an announcement saying that the smoke was from another train next door at the station.

My pal said that there were so many different uniforms-NY troopers, NJ troopers, Transit cops, plain clothes, Secret Service-AND NONE OF THEM KNEW WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON OR WOULD TELL ANY OF THE ANXIOUS COMMUTERS. The commuters got contradictory instructions about what to do during this little technical drama.

My buddy said it would have been a horror show if there had been something serious going on. Glad I don't live or work in NYC.

Damaged wire interrupts Newark-N.Y. train service

Train service between Newark, N.J., and New York stopped for about an hour and a half yesterday afternoon after an overhead wire was damaged.

Trains stopped at 12:55 p.m. after a NJ Transit train became entangled in an overhead wire that fell off its hanger, said Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari.

Amtrak and NJ Transit trains between Newark Penn Station and New York Penn Station were affected.

All but one track reopened at 2:26 p.m. Nine Amtrak trains and numerous NJ Transit trains were delayed up to two hours.

12. Okay, moving to GD
Despite this last post about a damaged wire, it appears this attack may have been a rumour. Please feel free to repost in LBN if it appears on any news sites.

Thanks!

16. If you post rumors, label them as such.
Reference your sources. There is enough disinformation flying around, we don't need to contribute to it.
