35 blocks, that’s over 1,000,000 people!

They are reporting on Indy media radio that it stretches over 35 blocks, that’s 1 and half MILES and over 1,000,000 people.

Folks this is now bigger than the New York record-setter last year.

Wish I had the money to go, a big congrats to everyone who is there.

If you havent already, turn on C-Span... Just incredible, Awesome!

4. President Al Gore ... The real
president...must have tears in his eyes. He
knows he was ripped off and Bush was appointed.

What a demonstration of a lousy appointment.

5. Local Fox just said 20-25 Thousand !
Husband heard it and switched back to CSpan where he looked at the overhead shots and started laughing---seems he knows something about crowd estimates (he's a statistician) and said: 1 million is low-balling it but reasonable...

"Fox *wishes* there were only 25K there...."

11. Hey, w_d, could you ask him for clarification for the math-challenged?
Why does he think that 1mil is an under-count?
Thanks!

25. he said that NYC blocks wall to wall equals
approximately 25K people (more if you squeeze 'em in) and that you have to figure the block size (DC has bigger avenues so the numbers are different.

Basically, he was going by the estimates of the length, the time past the camera and the per block average of 25K====frankly, I'm math challenged so I take his word. His conclusion...1.5 million CONSERVATIVELY today given the density of the crowd

I'd ask more but he's off on the bike.

What a day, eh? Makes me feel hopeful.

23. The moran at Fox likely doesn't know how to read the extra digits
between 25,000 and 250,000.

There is no way anyone, even Fox, could guess this crowd at 25,000.

24. Fox News = Baghdad Bob

Just a perfect example of how Fox News hates their viewers, they know the Freepers are ignorant and they can lie to them at will.

Let them tell their fairy tales.

16. I heard about 30,000 to 40,000 per block at the protest last year
and that was about 1.5 million or so. The Republicans must feel really out of place in NY this week! Good job protestors!!!!!!!

18. That would put today at about 1.5 million

Yep, cant help but wonder what those Repubs think watching 100's of thousands of people march by... for hour after hour... thousands and thousands as far as the eye can see.

17. Thank gawd for the traffic cam
The "news" media haven't considered this news, not yet. You'd think over 500,000 (conservative estimate) people doing anything all at once would be newsworthy.

They'll probably spend the entire newscast tonight interviewing some fat halfwit for Bush trying to counterdemonstrate.

Beautiful, beautiful people, too -- "we call ourselves Americans." (A Howard Dean quote contrasting Bush's Pioneers and Rangers).

Just didn’t seem to be that much 'buzz' leading up to this like there was during the marches last year.

Sure am proud of 'em though.. Should send a loud message to the pearl and diamond earring Repubs!

The cspan coverage is awesome!

it should give the people around the country something to think about.

I didn't even hear of ten protesters at the DNC.

27. Estimated at 1 million...

It was probably more, but NYPD did everything they could to keep them separated into different groups so it was hard to get a good estimate.

Looks like this one is going to blow those numbers away.

This one has had 10's of thousands flowing by for FOUR hours and theres no end in sight.

The Coward from Crawford will only be there for four hours.

They'll probably keep the motor running the whole time.. Friggen wussie.

Think I saw a news report that it’s the shortest time any president attended his convention in the history of the US

31. and there are soooo many of us in America who are not there
the protestors are just a sampling of the millions and millions who know that George Bush has got to go.

thanks for the reports, everyone.

I turned on c-span just now. the protestors have been passing the c-span camera for three hours. THREE HOURS.

just saw-

"God's way is love. Not war."

beautiful banner

that's the real old time religion. all who use religion as an excuse to kill will have to answer to their God, and I've got a feeling god might not like what George and the fundies are doing in god's name.

Jerry Falwell and Boykin and on and on should bow on their knees and ask god for forgiveness for using Christianity as an excuse to murder and torture and rape.
