Blackball

You might notice something missing from Hardball With Chris Matthews soon: Republicans. " Hardball may seem more like badminton during the Republican National Convention," threatens a GOP insider. What's up? The GOP thinks Matthews has gone over to Sen. John Kerry 's side and is too critical of the Bush campaign's editing of a Hardball interview with Kerry posted on the party's negative site, www.kerryoniraq.com.

As payback, they've stopped urging Republicans to appear on the show. Hardball executive producer Tammy Haddad dismisses charges Matthews is biased: "We beat everybody up." So far, nobody from the White House has told her of the show's being blackballed.

2. I say "GOOD!!!!!"
I hope they boycott the show. That will give more positive coverage to Kerry and more anti-chimp coverage to the chimp. Fuck 'em!

4. What creeps
They edit and interview t the point where it is not at all honest as to what Kerry really said and Chris calls them on it. This makes Chris biased??

I hope he hammers them on it by continually showing the ad vs. the entire Kerry statement.

5. Well, in an ad on Friday, they said Frist, Liddy Dole and at least 3
other bigwigs would be on his convention show....so I don't see much blackballing there....

7. "is Chris Matthews biased against Bush?"
this represents what is going on in the media in general.

Chris Matthews is clearly more than fair to Bush, laughably so, but then he performs this little skit with the republicans so dem viewers see him as being "on our side." He gets to have it both ways.

9. He'll find some bottom of the barrel wingnuts to appear
And that will only help Kerry. it'll make the Repubs look like bigger idiots.

10. If Repubs boycott MSNBC
then Dems should boycott FOX & CNN

Try to have news shows with just repubs; it will look pretty silly.

Both sides can play the game.

11. Sorry, I don't beleive it - THEY WERE AFRAID TO FACE CLELAND one on one
The only times Tweety has said he asked for a Bush rep and they refused was when he has had Cleland on. . .Each time Matthews said that Bush declined to send a rep.

Bushbots were afraid to be on the show w Max,

Now they are just trying to spin.

13. Technically, boycotting isnt fascist
I personally think their pissed off over his appearance on the the Bill Mayers (spelling?) show - where he practically admitted he was a democrat and was anti-B*sh. Cant say I blame them, I wonder why our team insists on appearing on faux repeatedly and should have the sense these republicans have.

14. This certainly is facist
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 05:50 PM by K-W
Using political and economic power to force people to obey the government, particularly one party in the government, is indeed facist.

17. This started before the Maher appearance
it's because he insisted that they tell the truth about Sen. Kerry's response to a question because they edited footage from Matthews' own show! And then they tried to defend their lying editing on Hardball to Chris's face and he didn't like their lying answer.

Oh dear! Chris Matthews had the balls to call the lying liars on their lies and they blackballed him! For shame, Chris Matthews! It's one thing to be underprepared, but please don't make us accountable for our lies! :puke:

15. What's with the MSNBC signs in the crowd and no Kerry/Edwards signs?
At the Democratic Convention in Boston, some in Hardball's "back-drop audience" were waving Bush/Cheney signs. Now the only signs are MSNBC signs.

16. He ought to play it Fox style.
Have a Democrat, and then an empty seat for the Republican who didn't show up. Then keep flashing back to the empty seat.

18. If Hardball's ratings go up, they won't stay away!
Trust me. They won't stay away from free publicity! If Hardball's ratings go up, they will have no choice but to send people to argue their point. This is nothing but another scare tactic!
