I need help identifying a CNN reporter
who needs a good ass-whuppin'. I was listening to CNN's audio feed of the demonstration on XM Radio in my car (yeah, I know; why torture myself), and after they interviewed some protesters, at about 6:10 p.m. ET the female announcer said the following:

"I know it's democracy, but sometimes it's hard to take it seriously."

And I nearly drove off the road, and wanted to crawl through the radio and tear out her spine and beat her with it. Failing that, I want to send a really intense nastygram to this person and remind her that democracy has to be taken seriously, that over 200,000 people were taking it very seriously today, and that people freaking *died* for the right to do what they did, and who the hell does she think she is, to make light of that?

I am seriously pissed off. Can anybody tell me who this twit was so I may hate her more specifically?

3. I know that.
But I want to tear her a new one anyhow. Actually, I might write to Aaron Brown instead, since he still seems to have retained a few tiny scraps of his journalistic soul. For now, anyway.

4. I had one of those moments with Paula Con...
I saw red so fast and was so aggravated I even forget what she was responding to: but she groaned and rolled her eyes at something 'democrat'. If I had the power I would have done a reverse 'The Ring', crawled into the tv and pummeled her idiot head basket.

8. Lucky for you that you were only able to hear her.
When I watched her say it, my tv came close to finally flying into the pool outside.

CNN really needs to get a bunch of e-mails and phone calls. She ought to be fired for that remark. Democracy is hard to take seriously??? It was truly a WTF? moment.

10. WTF? is right.
I assume her remark was accompanied by that pert, cute little smile she always wears when she says something especially vapid. Yes, it's time for a whole bunch of outraged, raving e-mails. That remark was so far over the line that I want to rant and throw things every time I think about it.

12. Done. Here it is:
I have identified my comment as "positive" because I am now "positive" I can't watch CNN any longer -- and because maybe somebody might actually read my remark.

This evening, at about 6:10 p.m., Carol Lin was reporting on the demonstration in New York City -- a remarkable assembly of over 200,000 people who peacefully exercised their First Amendment right to protest the policies of the Bush administration.

At the conclusion of a few short interviews, Ms. Lin made the following remark:

"I know it's democracy, but sometimes it's hard to take it seriously."

I barely could believe what I had heard, and thought at first that I had not heard her correctly, but other people have confirmed to me that that is exactly what she said. The exercise of your Constitutional right to protest the policies of your government in a free democracy is "hard to take seriously"? Has Ms. Lin ever taken a basic civics course? Is she aware that people have died, and continue to die, to protect that right? Does this reporter, whose sole skill seems to be the ability to be cute and perky, who represents your network, have any clue that what those 200,000 people did today represents the very heart and soul and core of what this country is about, and that it must, always, absolutely, be taken utterly seriously if it is to survive as a democracy?

Carol Lin should be deeply ashamed of such a shallow, vapid, stupid remark, and CNN should be ashamed to have employed someone with so little understanding of what her job is about. You embarrassed yourselves pretty badly with your biased coverage of the Democratic convention, but this was just appalling.

I will not watch CNN again.

28. CNN management WANTS cute and perky.. They even sent e-mails
"instructing" their "faces" on the current "hip-lingo" and wanted them to sprinkle those words into their "news segments"..

They are supposed to banter and quip with each other.. CNN management (and the others too) WANT that "in-your-kitchen-chatting-with-you" experience to come across to the viewers..

It appears that the American brain is now so addled, that we are incapable to absorbing facts, unless they are smiled to us, or come with a sprinkle or two of shizzle....

The "news" networks are not in the business to present news.. They are there to SELL US STUFF..and that is ALL they are there for..

CNN's viewer comment line, for Monday morning, is (404) 827 - 0234. When it connects, press 8 to bypass the long introductory voice message and connect straight through to the comment line operator. Then you wait til one of them gets to you.

There are always these from the "Five-Star" list...

You can communicate your thoughts to Kelli Arena personally at: kelli.arena@turner.com
You can now send your emails to Eason Jordan at Eason.Jordan@turner.com . He's CNN's chief news executive.

By the way: DUer SammyBlue tried these, and actually got a personal (if testy) response:

Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 12:19 AM by Nordic
that's carol.lin@turner.com

It might work. What the heck

on edit:

Here's what I wrote to her. We'll see if it bounces back:

Today after footage of the protests in NY was shown, you had to laugh and say "it's just hard to take that seriously".

Is it really? Is it difficult to take seriously almost 1,000 US soldiers blown to bits in a foreign country?

I'm just laughing my ass off!

Is it difficult to take tens of thousands of civilian deaths seriously? By god, yes it is, when I see dead bodies in the streets in Iraq, I just crack up!

And dead babies like the ones here:

http://www.einswine.com/atrocities/iraq/?pic=166

Well, I could just bust a gut laughing!

Hoo boy! I gotta wipe those tears! Those zany Democrats, obviously with nothing better to do than to get out in the streets and make us laugh!!!!

You're a goddamn cunt, and who the fuck are you to tell us what you think about anything.

Go to hell. You're a corporate shill douche-bag piece of shit.

FUCK YOU Carol Lin.

Get the fuck out of MY AMERICA. You don't belong here.

You are no Journalist or half decent talking head if you said this""I know it's democracy, but sometimes it's hard to take it seriously." & I have it on good authority
that you were ignorant enough to say this on National Television.

You are an embarrassment to your employer & your profession.
