DUers attending NYC RNC demonstrations sound off.
Just wanted to see how many of you in NYC went to yesterday's demonstrations and/or are planning to go this week's protests.

I wished I was there with you all!

:hi:

3. was there with my 60 year old dad
I hardly got any attention from Indy Media, but my DAD on the other hand was interviewed 3 TIMES! I'm pretty sure it's because he looks like a completely "normal" middle America older man, or perhaps bc. he is Vietnam Vet age. He was very afraid that the crowd would be all young extremist types, which i assured him wasn't teh case (judging by the Feb 15th crowd in NYC) but I'm ecstatic he went. I was very pleased to find that teh crowd was white, black, brown, yellow, old, young, male, female, transgendered, gay, striaght, far left, progressive, moderate, everything under teh sun EXCEPT REPUBS! it was like the population of Utopia!

7. I was there with friends - 4 adults, 2 kids. 3 more in my family were
there - we didn't get to meet and march together.
Will attend the Union Square events.

8. I was there with my wife and 9-year-old daughter.
I wore a Voter March T-shirt "March to Restore Democracy" and carried a placard that said, "Hey, AWOL! Take a Swiftboat Back to Texas!"

9. I was there
I carried a coffin. I wrote a post in the Lounge about it-- look for a thread with "Pallbearer Report" in the title.

It was certainly the largest mass action I ever participated in.

12. I took the train from New Haven with 4 other DUers
What a great day. I got blisters on my feet -- but kept going. Did the whole march and then up to the Park. The park was awesome! The police were great. After going to the Great Lawn we made the obligatory stop at Strawberry Fields were people had taken flower pedals and arranged them on the Imagine mosaic in the shape of a peace sign. Others had left their signs outlining the mosaic. John would have been very proud.
