Here is one more reason I hate the radical right....Hastert
Which reporter up here will press House Speaker Denny Hastert on whether he'll be slandering any other US citizens this week, as he did when he suggested, on the basis of no evidence, that financier George Soros is a front for drug cartels?

Check out this passage from Lloyd Grove's column today in the Daily News ...

Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert - having already enraged some New Yorkers with his remarks about local office-holders' "unseemly scramble" for federal money after 9/11 - yesterday opened a second front. On "Fox News Sunday," the Illinois Republican insinuated that billionaire financier George Soros, who's funding an independent media campaign to dislodge President Bush, is getting his big bucks from shady sources. "You know, I don't know where George Soros gets his money. I don't know where - if it comes overseas or from drug groups or where it comes from," Hastert mused. An astonished Chris Wallace asked: "Excuse me?" The Speaker went on: "Well, that's what he's been for a number years - George Soros has been for legalizing drugs in this country. So, I mean, he's got a lot of ancillary interests out there." Wallace: "You think he may be getting money from the drug cartel?" Hastert: "I'm saying I don't know where groups - could be people who support this type of thing. I'm saying we don't know."
No depths they won't sink to.

1. Um, wouldn't legalization of drugs result in
an end to Soros' cash flow if he was getting it from Cartels? Whatadumbass.

4. Counter.
You know, I don't know who's killing people on the streets in DC. I don't know who - if it's President Bush doing it himself, or one of his operatives - Bush has come out strongly in defense of institutional murder. I mean, he bombs villages in Afghanistan and Iraq, and supports Israel's missile attacks on residential locations. So obviously he's got some murderous interests out there.

You think President Bush might be murdering inner-city people?

I'm saying we don't know - he's obviously one of those people that supports that kind of thing. We don't really know.

6. Hmmmmm Yep you are right
I mean, there's no way to prove he isn't killing inner city people. I wonder if any inner city people in Washington D.C. have died under mysterious circumstances?

during the 1950s to discredit political opponents.

Speaker Hastert should back up his statements or retract them immediately. He should apologize to Mr. Soros and the public for this kind of remark if he can't produce evidence in support of his suppositions.

Speaker Hastert can be reached via the telephone number for Congress at 202-225-3121.

12. Exactly. When is denny up for election next? Maybe Mr Soros will
use some of that "drug" money that denny doesn't "know" about to fund an opponent to his ignorant ass!

You know, now that I think of it, denny has been in favor of the republican mascot for years. I'm sure that elephants have babies, what I DON'T KNOW is if denny is the father. He may fuck elephants, I don't know, it's just that, well I've been to the zoo and seen the babies and denny is VERY ppro-elephant. denny may fuck elephants, I just don't know if he does or not.

9. Say, what a coincidence. i don't know who...
Hastert has been blowing to get as far up as he has today. I don't know whether or not he got his job by putting on a donkey show in TJ to please Cheney. I don't *know* whether he's really a twelve-foot lizard. I mean, he's never said he ISN'T one, now, has he?

21. Hastert became Speaker because he WASN'T blowing anyone
Hastert became Speaker after Newt Gingrich left in scandal and then Livingston resigned because an affair was revealed. I think there were more scandals coming out about other Republicans in the House, but I don't remember them now.

Hastert was chosen because he kept his pants zipped up and did as he was told.

Which is not to say he is not really a twelve-foot lizard. I have no proof that he is not a twelve-foot lizard.

I guess the jury is still out on that.

15. Good point. Poor Denny must give the lion's share of his BIG PHARMA
kickbacks to Tom Delay. Tom did all of the legwork blackmailing congressmen to push the legislation through.

16. Covert anti-Semitism?
I raised the question on the last Hastert incident thread of whether the "money-grubbing New Yorkers" meme was really a disguised way of saying "money-grubbing Jews." But I was only half-serious about it.

Only now Hastert pops up again to paint Soros as a questionable character with shady financial sources. I could start to get seriously paranoid about all this.

If he wants to talk about people getting money from questionable sources, Pat Robertson would be my first choice.

18. I don't know where Denny gets his nonsensical accusations: I mean, ...
maybe his mind has deteriorated to the point that he can no longer distinguish between hallucinations and reality, or maybe he really did sell his soul to Satan and is allowing the Prince of Darkness to speak through him, or maybe he's just afraid he won't get invited back to the White House unless he says exactly what Rove tells him to say.

20. Hastert's really an assshole....
I posted a few weeks ago about him being on Cavuto on Faux News.

He talked about the failure to pass an energy bill out of conference committee because of "the trial lawyers."

I thought WTF...did this guy just take a dig at John Edwards that most of America won't get? If he has a Repuke majority in both houses of Congress, the only way the energy bill didn't pass was because it was a piece of shit.

You don't suppose the Speaker of the House doesn't understand Congressional procedure?
