Just got invited to a Bush bash.....
By some "acquaintance/friends" of mine at my condo community who know I'm a rabid Bush hater and Kerry supporter. They hang out at the pool and have listened to many many rants of mine.

The husband seems to be more of a Kerry supporter but the wife is from an "old Republican family." They both are from very wealthy families so have grown up in that environment. They were apparently "asked" to do this party by the Bushistas.

Haven't decided what to do. I'm tempted to go and wear my Kerry button and park my car with my Kerry sticker in a prominent place - and she's the type who would actually think it's sort of humourous. I'm not sure if I want to subject myself to that though....

2. Did they know your political views before
they invited you? If so - go and do your Kerry thing. If not - make a polite phone call first.

6. They DEFINITELY know my politics.
I just dropped off 20 pages of articles worth of anti-Bush and pro-Kerry stuff at their place a few days ago.

I'm always ranting about Bush to them and just about everybody else here. She wanted to have a bash before where I would talk about Kerry and she or someone else would talk about Bush.

If it weren't to celebrate Bush's acceptance of the nomination - I would ask her if I could do a thing on Kerry. In this circumstance it wouldn't really be appropriate.

3. Go
Take flyers with several bulleted points about why you're not voting for Bush. Mainstream stuff like the deficit chart, Bush taking troops and money from Afghanistan without Congressional approval, all the investigations, budget lies, environmental damage, stuff like that. Some of these people have never seen any of what the Bushies have done.

5. do you think of them more as friends?
i guess that's how i would approach this.
if they are more friends -- and the bush thing is an excuse to enjoy the company of other friends -- then maybe going isn't so bad for you.
they don't sound like right wing scumbags or offensive... so what's your comfort level.
i couldn't do it but there are others for whom that is fine.

7. This is more an excuse to enjoy the company of people in our community.
If I go - I know I will not be able to prevent myself from bashing Bush. It's an obsession. I bash Bush everywhere I go... at the store, to my neighbors, at the pool, to all of my family and friends.

Most people think it's kind of funny because I sort of do it in a humorous non-threatening way. One of my friends told me "Only YOU could get away with it."

8. Drop a radio into the gene pool
I wouldn't bother going.

It sounds like you're the "entertainment". Kinda like the nerd surrounded by the football team in high school. Think "dodgeball".

9. Offer to bring the condiments.....then go load up on Heinz products...
Even though we all know there's little if no connection to Heinz-Kerry, the dolt Repugs will never come around to that fact, so it would be a perfect way to rub salt in that wound!

Go, have fun!

10. Go - your friends know your feelings about the election so
they are willing to put up with your "bashing" just to have your company. Just pay attention to these guys and have your talking points ready - they will not be ready for the true facts, so you will have the advantage.
