NY Times actually had decent protest coverage!
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/30/politics/campaign/30assess.html?hp

Including a series of portraits of protesters, reflecting the diversity of the crowd--diversity of "types" as well as views. The paper also estimated the crowd at 500,000; ran several stories on various aspects of the march, two of which were on page A1 above the fold; represented the voices of protesters who were arrested and their lawyers.

Not bad for a paper that totally ignored the 65,000 demonstrators who booed and hissed Bush at his "inauguration."
