SNIP..."Regier was a controversial pick from the start. Before actually taking over the agency, there were news accounts detailing conservative Christian articles associated with Regier that said spanking children was OK and that women should focus on being homemakers instead of seeking careers.

Other stories followed. Bush was angered when Regier agreed to chair the political campaign of an Oklahoma friend. Regier quickly rescinded that decision. He also faced accusations that he fired several workers to please a state senator, Republican Rudy Garcia, who said they were rude to his grandmother...."

3. I am sore, I worked disaster relief as a chainsaw crew chief.
I had a 40 lbs. saw with a 36 inch bar. Try slinging that around for about 8hrs out of a twelve hr work day, for five days.

Things were bad down there, my heart broke when we showed up at the Disaster relief shelter. Thats where we stayed, they had separate accommodations for us apart from the general population. We had entrances and suites, if you want to call them that, on the second floor. We had are own bathrooms, showers and sleeping spaces. We were well fed, and treated very well.

We walked around downstairs the first night we arrived, thats when my heart broke. I saw people laying in cots that just had blank stares. I saw very elderly and very young, every age in between . We listened to some of the stories of people who have not only lost their homes and everything in them, but that is just the tip of the iceberg.

What I never gave any thought to was that they also lost their cars, so now they have no way to get to work. That is if they were fortunate enough to still have jobs. They have also lost their jobs, a lot of business was wiped out as well, and many of these people have no way to start from scratch again.

The insurance and FEMA are never going to be able to pay for all that has vanished in these peoples lives.

The destruction was as bad as you may have been hearing, it looked like a war zone in many areas. I may be a little sore, but my aches and pains will go away in a few days. These poor people will be feeling their pain for many years to come.

5. The news just quit covering all the pain and anguish,
God bless you for doing that. I keep remembering in my air-conditioned house that 15 miles to the east of us is devastation still. The local news shows those empty-eyed folks wandering around still, but somehow Jeb just keeps looking like a hero.

And Frances is on the way, and that thought is unbearable. I remember Donna all too well. This is so painful.
