She says it a lot, but her pics certainly indicate otherwise. Is this some long-running joke?

3. I will tell you why.....
she loves the black caucus in the House....they are true fighters with a spine....she is an honorary member of the black caucus....so she jokes that she wants to be black because she loves Sheila Jackson Lee and other african americans in the congress so much....they were the only ones who protested Bush's 2000 election "win" on the floor of the senate.

4. I think I heard her say
once that her mother was black. I don't listen to her too often though but I think that's what she said. Sure doesn't look it from the picture on the web page.

5. Maybe she joined the NAACP like I did........
when some asshole republican said only black people cared about the election 2000. I figured I must be black so I joined.

9. It started after Sharpton's speech at the DNC...
She was extremely impressed with Al Sharpton and said that the blacks were the only ones that refused to "play by the rules" and simply say what's on their mind. It was also right around the time of Corinne Brown's speech in the House that was stricken from the record.

So she said, "if blacks are the only ones willing to speak their minds, then I'm going to join them and become a black woman myself." It grew from there.
