Al Franken Says "Shame" on Senator John McCain for supporting Bush.
Senator John McCain (Republican-Arizona) is speaking at the Republican National Convention in New York City tonight.

Today Al Franken talked about the dishonest campaign George W. Bush ran against McCain in the 2000 Republican primaries.

Franken says that given that plus the "Swift Boat" smears on John Kerry, which McCain has called "dishonest and dishonorable," McCain shouldn't be supporting Bush.

Franken says McCain will regret it if Bush wins.

2. McCain is my senator. Till my dying day, I will work for his
defeat at the polls. He has betrayed himself, and worse, he has betrayed us all.

What is it, that makes men like John McCain, and Colin Powell, sell their souls to the devil(s)? What makes them become willing to whore their honor? They should be ashamed.

I once thought of McCain having a bit of Teddy Roosevelt, but he's just a phony. He's almost as disappointing as Junior. What's really sad, is that he's given much, and been through a lot. It makes me ill to see him be so subservient to Bush. Someone has really hurt this man....

Still another reason to hate the Repuglians ....the effect they have on people. It is an evil, and they are possessed. I wonder if this is how it felt in Germany as the Nazis took over? Strange times.

November 2nd will be our only chance to stop them.

3. Good for him :)
I think that embracing the one who didn't give a flying fuck about you before is just stupid of McCain to have done. It's not like he had to publically show his support for the sake of the RNC. Like another poster said, Franken should tell it to his face.

5. help me...
I understand peace, a balanced budget, and racial equality.
But help me understand how saying "shame" is any different than a mother scolding her child.

6. The thing is, Bush turns on fellow Republicans like a dog.
Bush snubbed Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN) for some reason (I can't recall what), ran a dirty campaign against McCain in 2000 (and never was properly held to account by the press or his moral coward of a wife), and also snubbed Senator Jim Jeffords prior to his defection from the GOP. See a pattern here? Bush is all about his own power and covering his own rear end, not leading a unified Republican Party.

One can only hope that they will all fight like the Kilkenny cats and nothing will be left of them in the end (well, I hope they don't kill off Lugar). In the meantime, though, they're doing a lot of damage to the world.

I don't know how McCain lives with himself. He knows exactly what an unscrupulous SOB Bush is.

11. Cats from Kilkenny
Thanks for mentioning the cats. I had not thought of that delightful poem for years.

"There once were two cats from Kilkenny...
Each thought that there was one cat too many...
So they fought and they fit,
They scratched and they bit,
'till excepting their nails
and the tip of their tails,
Instead of two cats there weren't any.

Ahhh nostalgia....you brought a smile to my face on a day that I could really use one.

7. John McCain exceeded my rock bottom expectations.
No one should doubt him. His only saving grace is that they have already selected him to be VP in place of Dick from the cave. Perhaps McCain thinks he can bring moderation to the party - don't know why he would think that.

8. McCain hopes to run for president in 2008.
As such he's whored himself to the Bushitters hoping for their blessing.

10. Well, sorry, that won't EVER get him MY blessing.
If MY husband EVER embraced a guy whose people smeared ME and our daughter, there would be more than just hell to pay. Just disgraceful. He never took bush to task for that. Never cried foul. Never threatened to sue. Never expressed any outrage. Never demanded a retraction or apology. Nothing. Absolutely NOTHING. Except - "how far down should I get onto my knees before you, sire, and what would you like me to kiss?"
