Why do we have to have a "LIKEABLE" President?
Since when did "Wanting to have a beer with the President" become an important criteria to determine whether somebody QUALIFIES to be President?

How many people would want to sit down and have a beer with Abe Lincoln? How superficial is this dumbass electorate? I don't want to "feel comfortable" sitting down and having a beer with the "President of the United States", I want to sit in AWE of my President, I want to ADMIRE my President, I want to feel CONFIDENT in my President, I want to RESPECT my President.

For God sakes, if I felt "comfortable" sitting down and having a beer with my President I'd be worried about My President not being a person that commands respect and has the knowledge and expertise required to be an effective "World Leader". Somebody on -my level- has no business being the "President of the United States of America".

How about RAISING the bar that we use to measure the qualificiations of our leaders, not lowering it.

1. Ya know
At this point I'd be willing to settle for a "Not a Lying Dumbass Rat Bastard" President.

2. not sure, but i don't find him likable at all, i'm repulsed and disgusted
by him.

it's mostly right wing men who find him likable. they tend to be idiots and like it that the president of the united states is on their level or lower in intelligence.

8. If Bush is so likeable, why do I hate him
And 400,000 demonstrators, each representing at least 10 other people in the country, all expressed their "like" Sunday, didn't they?

9. I think respect means actually being ELECTED to the office to which
you hold! That alone disqualifies bush*! As far as liking my President, sure that would be nice. I have never thought about being able to "have a beer" with my Pres and why would I? bush* is the ultimate freeper, no wonder they like him so much!

11. Americans really don't like adults. They prefer adolescents.
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 09:14 PM by wurzel
The last adult we had in the WH was Carter. Since then we had Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, and Bush 11. None of them were adults. Kerry is an adult and it is a problem

12. It Goes Along With
people not liking Gore or Kerry because they come across as smarter than the voter. Christ, I'm smart, but I WANT the President to be smarter than me. I sure has hell know I couldn't run this country.

13. For the same reason that education and ability to do the job
didn't keep Governor Grey Davis' his. His lack of personality made the shark attacks so much easier. The Republicans then could install their stupid pos "actor" in as our governor.
