Can some old-schoolers tell me why Howard Stern hated Mario Cuomo?
Or if you don't know that, maybe why Cuomo became unpopular enough to defeat?

1. It wasn't that he hated Cuomo...

It's that he liked Senator Al DaMato, who's golden boy was Patacki.

3. Not sure...

I don't remember any specific beef he had with the guy; maybe something personal? I dunno.

4. in 1994 when Stern was toying with a run for gov. under the Reform Party
Stern said he liked some of the things Cuomo did, but that it was time for a change (Stern didn't run because he didn't want to disclose his financial records)

Stern didn't hate Cuomo, its just that Cuomo represented the "business as usual" politics to him

5. The death penalty
Cuomo was unalterably against the death penalty and refused to sign several laws passed which reinstated it in New York. That was Stern's beef and that was New York's beef. Also it was 1994 which was a terrible year for Democrats.

7. and Stern was big on having road work done at night ....
Edited on Tue Aug-31-04 06:45 AM by hadrons
he hated being driven into the city and having traffic (huge issue for him) slowed because of maintence work being done - he's OK with construction work, but he feels it shouldn't be done during rush hour (if possible)

8. Until his problems with the FCC stern was a republican asshole.
He is anti-tax and pro death penalty. And the republicans kissed his ass and he rewarded them. It always pissed me off that he enjoyed free speech because of the Dems, but always failed to support them. He probably would still list Damato, Giuliano, and Christy Todd Whitman as his favorite politicians. Firefighters and cops love him, where his his voice this week? It's all about Stern for Stern.
