The term "9/11" in the media
I think we do ourselves a disservice to use the term "9-11" because it subtly creates a sense of immediacy of the terrorist attacks of 2001. It's use in the media is ever-present, and conditions an emotional response to otherwise innocuous references -- There is a 9:11 twice a day, there is a 9-11 every year, and there are many references to 9-11s for day-to-day emergencies. These daily references all reinforce the images and emotions of the people toward the attacks of 2001 and make it a more present reality. The perceived immediacy of the 2001 terrorist attacks opens people up to increased manipulation.

1. I prefer to think of 9/11 as
my oldest sister's birthday.

What is this ".818181818181" (9 divided by 11) they were so concerned about in the 21st century?
