I was the last caller on the Al Franken show today!!!
My main point was how the RNC convention is using 911 as a "strength" for Bush when I see it as the exact opposite.

Giuliani said last night how when he saw those people jumping from the World Trade Center, "Thank God President Bush is our President!"
My first reaction when I saw the attack was, "Oh, my God - we're under attack because we have no President" and my second thought was, "Oh my God - we're under attack and we have no President!"

My next point would have been about how they shamelessly used the families of the victims of 911 when Bush fought the formation of a 911 commission tooth and nail until the families finally won their battle to have an investigation.

Hope some of you heard it or maybe can catch it later tonight!!!

You came across as very articulate and at ease. I am too chicken to ever call, I would stutter and stammer and freeze and go blank if I were on national radio!

10. Word to the wise
If you ever feel the need to express your opinion on radio, jot your thoughts down in outline or even sentence form. The beauty of radio is that nobody can see you. Just do your best to not sound like you're reading.

13. Thanks
Believe it or not I was very nervous as well. (I'm much more comfortable on a P.A. talking to hundreds of people from behind a closed cockpit door!)

Thanks for the nice words!

14. Thanks!
I didn't even get to the part about how my brother-in-law is part of the army national guard guys who was due to separate and got caught under the back-door draft "stop-loss" and is now in Iraq guarding gates with a machine gun, grenade launcher and four huge grenades strapped to his chest. In other words, a walking target. He was a Bush supporter who is a rabid Bush hater now, along with his wife.

I was just happy to get a chance to talk to Al and Katherine. (She does the call screenings by the way. She is fantastic!)

Thanks for the nice words!

19. "Thank God President Bush is our President?"
THat was his FIRST thought? Really? Not, "Holy shit, there are people jumping out of windows?"

That's just got to be a lie,

20. I know, it's unbelievable

And absolutely a lie. Here's a snip from the transcript of his speech:

http://www.newsday.com/news/politics/wire/sns-ap-cvn-giuliani-text,0,2950839,print.story?coll=sns-ap-politics-headlines

On that day, we had to confront reality. For me, standing below the north tower and looking up and seeing the flames of hell and then realizing that I was actually seeing a man -- a human being -- jumping from the 101st or 102nd floor drove home to me that we were facing something beyond anything we had ever faced before.

We had to concentrate all of our energy, faith and hope to get through those first hours and days. And I will always remember that moment as we escaped the building we were trapped in at 75 Barclay Street and realized that things outside might be even worse than they were inside the building.

We did the best we could to communicate a message of calm and hope, as we stood on the pavement seeing a massive cloud rushing through the cavernous streets of lower Manhattan. Our people were so brave in their response.

At the time, we believed we would be attacked many more times that day and in the days that followed. Spontaneously, I grabbed the arm of then Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik and said to Bernie, "Thank God George Bush is our President."

And I say it again tonight, "Thank God George Bush is our President."

24. Guiliani is full of crap
When he saw people leaping out of the building, he was trying to figure out how the hell to get his ass out of the way. Well, that's my take.
