The Republican Party has said that the education reforms it has proposed in the United States will "over time, greatly increase the number of highly qualified workers in all sectors of the American economy," but "to meet immediate needs, we support increasing the number of H-1B visas to ensure high-tech workers in specialised positions."
The platform also said that Republicans would work to expand the H-2A programme for the temporary agricultural workers 'so important to the nation's farms.'
I'd sure like one of those tech jobs that are going to imported workers. I'll finish the incomplete quote in this story: "To meet immediate needs, we support increasing the number of H-1B visas to ensure high-tech workers in specialised positions"...that are willing to work for next to nothing.
Damn traitor CEOs, shareholders, and Indian job thieves. And to top it all off they are going to undercut already low farm wages. How much more must the average american suffer?
I might as well line the parrot cage with my now worthless degree. And my relatives are completely clueless. They don't understand why I can't get a computer job. They think i'm 'not trying hard enough to get a job' and i'm 'lazy'.
Back in january I interviewed with a big tech company in Chicago for an entry level position. I had already passed their online tests. During the interview I made sure to point out my 4.0 GPA from college. After that it took them a month to tell me they were no longer interested. And I found out a month ago that the same company was laying off lots of Americans.
Even if Kerry wins in November, does anyone here really think that our representatives will do anything to stop the offshoring and H-1Bs? Does anyone here really think that our representatives even care about anyone they represent anymore (besides the people that throw money at them)?
