Bob Dole’s 1st Purple Heart

During WW2 Dole threw a grenade at a farm house. It bounced off of a
tree and back at him and his fellow soldiers injuring some of them and him. This was an accidental self-inflicted minor wound.
It was a small piece of metal that entered his leg. It was pulled out and he resumed his activities. He was a awarded a Purple Heart for this. Should he have refused this award? Should he now send it back? These despicable people are mocking him and any other Veteran that has been awarded a Purple Heart for similar incidents.

9. Indeed. I just finished a WWII book: Five Marks

about an Army Lt., James Jess Hannon, who was an escaped POW who, along with another, made his way across Europe to find American troops. Along the way he met so many people who were turned out of their homes by Germans and when he went through Majdanek Lublin, Poland, he found a death camp recently deserted by fleeing Nazi's. The people of the town said when the smoke stacks belched out the black smoke from "the devils ovens" they'd close their homes and the devil would tap at their windows. The soot was everywhere and they couldn't eat the vegtables out of their garden because the soil was contaminated. One of the townsmen gave Lt. Hannon a book where he had written everything down about that camp because otherwise no one would believe it. Very good book, not many pages, but it says a lot of things in a nutshell. Not for the faint hearted, very descriptive and detailed in some parts. One Nazi commander at the camp made sure he was at all the executions and brought his dog along. When he got his orders to transfer he pitched his dog in the ovens too.

These are the memories that must be presevered...these men and women who served in the military to bring an end to that horror and this madman in the WH whose family, like you said, helped pave the way to kill millions of men, women, and children. And they dare to make a mockery with their bandaids on the convention floor.

5. I think it's disgusting that Bob Dole's own party

would mock Bob Dole's war wound by wearing purple heart band aids. Bob Dole served honorably and Bob Dole was awarded a purple heart because Bob Dole was wounded in the line of duty. Bob Dole must be very upset that Bob Dole's own party would mock Bob Dole's wounds that Bob Dole received while fighting for Bob Dole's country.

Everybody fucks up once in a while. Unfortunately, the stakes are higher when you're dealing with hand-grenades. If Dole was a dangerous fuck-up, his squad would have taken care of him.

Purple hearts are for anyone who is wounded in combat. By no means is it a "prestigious" honor. It just means someone sacrificed for their nation.
