3. Fox has been tipped off

They mentioned it today for their business wrap up... and they
were spinning furiously about it. "You have to take into account
the WHOLE picture of jobs created under the Bush recovery" blah
blah blah.

They know some bad shit is coming out on Friday.

6. Third Quarter Is Flat...If You're Lucky
This should be a snapshot of June...and the continued loss of full time and rise in part-time less-paying jobs. This report may reflect a bump in part time hiring as the rich need someone to cut their lawns and migrants work the fields and packing houses.

Last week I had an interesting "discussion" with a "financial planner". This guy who works for a well-known brokerage house was trying to blow sunshine up my ass about the economy and I called him on it. I talk to enough people, have seen the market do a dive in recent months and have lived long and prospered enough to trust my senses when times not only are bad, but getting worse.

I asked a simple question as to where this anal-ist thought the market and economy would be on Nov. 5. He hesitated and said if Bunnypants is re-elected the market will surge. That ended our call...plus he promoted a portfolio VERY heavy on oil and military-industrial stocks. Profiteering anyone?

Then three weeks later, when nobody is looking, they will revise them downward. Then the Kerry campaign will twiddle their thumbs for two weeks formulating a coherent response.

5. In 65 years, August employment has only fallen below July 9 times.
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 01:14 AM by TahitiNut
Compare that to July from June - in the same 65 years, July's total employment numbers have fallen below June's 59 times. (July is the usual summer low point for employment.)

Not only will the July numbers be 'updated' but I'm guessing they'll tout the unadjusted numbers this time, no matter what, since the adjusted numbers will show a lesser increase, if any, and a greater decrease, if any.
