Its enough to make a Christian be atheist (My morning rant on the GOP)
I'd like to give some conservative answers to conservative questions.

"1. Which party believes a father is not truly need in the home?"
Right now, a lot of fathers are away from home supporting America's #1 Welfare Program...The occupation of Iraq. So I guess the Republicans believe that thousands of American fathers are needed more in Iraqi homes than American ones.

2. Which party believes your kid should have condoms and an abortion without parental consent or knowledge?

A number of midwestern and southern school districts ran by conservatives are putting condoms in schools, so this issue runs bipartisan.
I usually don't deal with the phony abortion (yes, its phony because it is a private decision involving no one but a family, a doctor and their God.), but I'd like to ask. Which party supports the abortion of medical professionals and domestic terrorism in the form of the bombing of clinics?

3. Which party believes the government should take your land if a rare frog lives on it?
Which party believes the government should take your land so Dick Cheney's company can get rich of it?

4. Which party has a cow when God is mentioned in public while defending Ice Tea's right to sing a song about killing cops?
I only have a cow when people mention God in public, but don't act very godly. Like our "president".

As for Ice Tea? Its called the First Amendment. Or did Fawn Hall shred that, too.

5. Which party supports a play titled, "I'm going to kill the president"?
Which party has actually supported killing Presidents? (Can you say "Salvador Allende"?)

6. Which party believes a woman should have the right to kill her unborn baby even in the ninth month.
Which party believe pro-lifers should have the right to abort a doctor in the 160th trimester.

7. Which party wants to control what we eat, the car we drive, how we spend our money and how we defend ourselves?
Which party gets its contribtutions from people who want to control what we eat (ADM. Cargill are both major supporters of Bush-Cheney), control what we spend our money on (Halliburton, Flour, General Dynamics, Rockwell, Lockheed Martin)?

"A large part of the left's hatred for Bush is his faith in God."

Bush really has faith in God. Well, lets take a look a our President through the prism of Exodus, Chapter 20.

1. "I am the Lord thy God. Thou shault have no other Gods before Me."
Bush fails here, because he puts power and profit ahead of doing what is Godly. Calling war something "God told me to do?"
Yes, our president shows true Christian faith there.

2. "Thou shault not make for yourself any carved image.
3. Thou shault not bow down to them nor serve them"

George W. Bush fails both big time. Let see who our godly president bows down to? Hmm. Based on the people around him (Rove, Cheney) and his world view (Unilateralist power, aggression, Enron-Halliburton profiteering) I'd say Baal and Asherah have a high place in the White House than father son and holy.

4. "Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy."
I'll give Dubya a pass here. I'm sure he goes to church, even if he doesn't get much out of it or carry it out in his life, which based on his action as a leader I do not see.

5. "Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long upon the land your God is giving you."

It's been widely reported that Dubya didn't honor his dad when it came to the issue of Iraq. 41 and all of his top advisors said Iraq was a bad idea. 43 went anyway.

6. "Thou Shalt Not Kill"
Over 900 solders and thousands of Iraq civilians, but thousands of Afghanistan (and we did kill the person we wanted to kill)

Oops.

7. "Thou Shalt Not Steal"
W didn't officially steal. He had Jeb do it for him. ;)

8. "Thou shalt not commit adultry"
I'll give the president this one. He might cheat on election, but I doubt he's cheated on Laura.

9. "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor"
But bearing false witness is what a Republican does best. That Swift Boat has been sailing for years.

10. "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor house; thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife nor his manservant, nor his ox nor anything that is your neighbors."
W, that applies to your neighbors' oil, too ;)
Be it in Iraq or Venezuela.

So in the Old Testament tally. Bush misses on 8 of 10. That's a real godly percentage.
But the beauty is that God forgives and a man can repent.

But to show some Christian charity, lets go to the New Testament. After all, our President says Jesus is his guiding force. Being one of the flock myself, I find this to be a good thing. But my problem with the GOP in general, and our president in particular is that little matter of talking the talk but not walking the walk.

Matthew 20:38-40
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment"
"And the second is like it. You shall love thy neighbor as thyself."

Based on George W Bush's actions as a President, as a presidential candidate, or as statesman, I find not much true love for the Lord nor his neighbor, as shown in a number of ways above.

But it isn't just W. Its most of the modern GOP. These folks want to talk about Jesus, but don't want to work like Jesus.
They want to stress their "fundamental values" (Gays, Guns, etc.),
But My Lord and Savior had a set of fundamental values, too.

Matthew 25:42
"For I hungry and you gave Me no food. I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did Not take me in."

Matthew 25:44
"Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick in prison, and did not minister to You."
Matthew 25:45
"Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the lease of these, you did not do it to Me."

It is interesting that the GOP will trot out its "Christian" faith on "issues" such as Gay marriage and abortion. But they are silent on the main issues of faith and works that Jesus talked about. Poverty, peace, service to our fellow man.

What Would Jesus Do? Based on his teachings put against GOP policy, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be voting Republican.

"THANK GOD BUSH IS IN THE WHITE
HOUSE AND WILL STAY THERE!"

Not if I have anything to say about, and Praise God that in our country, I will have something to say about it, and so will millions of others.

And before you strike me off as a leftist "lib'ruhl", I'm a life-long conservative, but based on what I see in the GOP, I'd rather burn in hell than vote Republican.

4. Some of us Christians don't
believe in Hell. But maybe we could God to give you an extra dose of Purgatory, or reincarnate you as your least favorite animal? *l*

OR

You could save yourself the trouble and vote for Kerry. *l*

Would Jesus love a liberal? You bet!
