Why do you suppose Air America Radio won't touch Spy scandal?
Who's side are they on anyway?

The most damaging story of the politial season and our own network is purposefully ignoring it. Why? On who's orders?

:shrug;

3. For the same reason DU has locked threads about it, and not
allowed honest discussion concerning the players, and their motivations. As for the reason, you'll have to figure that out for yourself. I would expound more, but have no wish to be "tombstoned".

If you want an honest discussion about it, you'll have to go to www.antiwar.com or www.counterpunch.org

8. Counterpunch has been accused of Anti-Semitism
My employer has it blocked as a hate speech site.

And didn't they distort the caption on the picture of the moroccan prisoner with the star of david tattoo and say that he was a prison guard?

18. There are various opinions about Counter Punch, as there are
with many web/news sites. I have not seen any overt anti-Semitism on the site, and as I am a Jew, I would certainly know it when I see it.

I think some people have used the "anti-Semitism" canard with regards to them, in an effort to discredit their work. Sorry, I'm not buying it. Counter Punch does have a very aggressive stance against the neocons, especially those with dual Israeli/U.S. loyalties, and as a patriotic American, I support this stance.

only to get singed by backlash when "new evidence" emerges, who knows where this story is going but hopefully the FBI is investigating this thoroughly and Wolfie and Fiefe will get their just due

7. Um...sorry...the investigation is over. The FBI was poised to
follow the investigation straight into Likud. Then someone leaked the story and so it goes. Investigation over. They'll end up sacrificing some low-level dweeb. Meanwhile, the powers behind this and other criminal acts sit back and continue raking in the profits.

Richard Perle needs to experience his Karma now.

20. I, too, think the leak was a pre-emptive strike
By the way, wasn't the Likud a former employer of ex-governor-to-be James McGreevey's blackmailing gay ex-lover?

10. No Subject
It hasn't been a good few months for Israeli intelligence. I recall a recent story about two spies being found in New Zealand, using Canadian passports.

Why does Israel need spies in New Zealand? Is there some kind of Jewish-Kiwi political tension?

17. About the Kiwi and Canadian angle:
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 01:17 PM by Minstrel Boy
Israelis have been charged in recent years with forging Canadian and New Zealand passports. They weren't conducting espionage against the countries; they were intending to use the innocuous international profiles of the countries to shelter their agents.

And there have been a rash of arrests and quick deportations in recent months ("friendly" spies are typically hustled out of the country once their covers are blown), in both the United States and Canada, involving Israeli intelligence assets using the cover of "movers" and "art students." A pattern we also saw around the time of 9/11.

11. Maybe because they probably don't have a real news dept?
Air America is a talk show network. They don't have reporters, as far as I know.

I remember the good old days, when the newspapers and (epsecially)TV networks had real news departments that would actually do some digging rather than rip wire copy and read press releases.

12. Because AAR tries to be informed rather than just throw out
factoids like another talk show radio personality does. It could be there isn't enough information out there yet for a meaningful discussion.

14. Why "Dark Side" is a tough sell for me
Here's my take:

It's a political tarball and we don't know who it's leaked by or how true it is.

It may have intended to be some candy coated poison. If the left emnbraces it and it is false, then it blows up the left as being misled and under it all, truly antisemitic.

If it is true it will carry on of its own and reach fruition on the big media.

15. I agree that
the leak was for damage control for those involved. Half of my answer was not to derail the investigation (which I lean with). I do think, however, the tentacles of the neocons intertwines both parties.

because it involves a Jewish person. I can call Bush a mass-murdering corrupt BASTARD on AA (or here on DU) but apparently I can't say anything, and I mean ANYTHING, derogatory about what Israel is doing to Palestinians, as it happened on this site: I had entire thread or posts deleted.

24. Here, wrestle with this....
I think there are three major niches in power on the Right right now.

    <>Evangelical and/or fundamentalist and/or apocalyptic Christians.

    <>Neocons, PNACers, pro-Sharon pro-muscular Israel folks.

<>Globetrotting mafia, seeking deals on oil, minerals, war profiteering, or whatever.

So, the three have different goals. Who is playing who? Who has the upper hand? Who will ditch who when the chips are down?

26. hard to argue with the above.....and Zan of Texas knows whereof
he/she speaks!

how do I know?

from other sites.....EXTREMELY well informed; in depth, bespeaking of scholarly research

care to give any details, Zan?

AFA her three points:

the intertwining of the first two is particularly frightening, given the revelations/informed bent of the Xtians, and the clear willingness of the Likudniks to US the neocon stringpullers to do their bidding, and failing that to do whatever they feel is needed to protect themselves (understandable, but where will this lead, particularly if the Iran situation continues to careen out of control?)

not to mention the affects the depredations of the third group around the world, uniting the most economically downtrodden with a new (virtually permanent) coalition of outraged Muslims the world over, which has fomented a War without end.

I was hoping for answers though! Who's got em?

I think all three of em, plus both major parties, plus the spineless corporate media, are in a gunny sack, hop hop hopping toward a cliff, and dragging us along with them in their delusional destructiveness.

Any analysis or solutions gratefully accepted.
