OK, I Admit It...I Was Really Happy On The Day * Was Inaugurated...
because I was sitting in the Martinez Hotel in Cannes, France, attending a music biz conference (MIDEM). It was great to be out of the country on that fateful day...and even better to catch dinner at La Brouette-de-Grand'mere on the rue d'Oran later that evening.

But since I got back...

3. I wasn't. I was really pissed.
I was so pissed I refused to watch whistle-ass's inaguration.

Later on, I was shocked to see footage of the protestors at the inauguration in F9/11. "Surely, this would have been on the front page of the newpaper and on the TV news," I thought. Then I chided myself for being so naive again.

4. It was appalling
Protesters from all around the country outnumbered Bush supporters in the DC streets on that cold, dark, rainy day. Tens of thousands of demonstrators all over the city. It was amazing.

Then I watched the news that evening and all they showed was a 5 second clip of a Black Bloc guy scuffling with DC police.

6. In fact, I spent most of the business hours during that conference
reassuring European-based business colleagues that bush's beliefs weren't MY beliefs. These were people who absolutely loved Bill Clinton because - wait for it - their BUSINESSES did so well while he was president. "As goes America, so go we," said one of my colleagues based in Stuttgart when commenting about the influence of the US economy on the rest of the world.

Now, they've all seen their worst fears come to pass. They long for a return to sanity. I plan on doing everything in my power to return this country to sanity.

5. The scene in F9/11 of Bush's limo being pelted with vegetables
is one of the most beautiful and inspiring things I've ever seen.
