an EDICT from Clear Channel?
I wonder if others have observed this in the last few days. I have noticed this now three times, on two different Twin Cities stations owned by the evil Clear Channel.
Coming off a Springsteen or R.E.M. song, the jockeys say something like, 'That's Bruce Springsteen; he'll be in town oct. 5 for a political fund-raising concert." and nothing more.

I am guessing. No, I'm willing to bet my next paycheck (meager as it is) that an edict went out from the masters to the minions at Clear Channel: Do not EVER refer to these concerts as "Vote for Change" evnts. On pain of being fired, you may only call them 'political fund-raising concerts' without refering who the fund-raising is for.

Any other DUers notice this?

1. Haven't noticed it here
But I rarely listen to commercial radio anyway. They may be doing it on the country stations because the Dixie Chicks are going to be in Iowa City in October, but I don't listen to country stations either.

2. I'm surprised that Springsteen hasn't disappeared from ...
the Clear Channel airways.

I guess that shows that they put profit ahead of their principles.

3. Would not
surprise me. I'm shocked that they are still playing songs from artists on the V4C tour. Won't be long until some fascist DJ or CC exec begins a record burning party

9. If you know how to dig deep, you'll probably
find the Clear Channel is one of the promoters of this concert; they were with the Dixie Chicks and all of that publicity they gave by banning them from their radio stations paid off for them big time, since it insured that the Chicks concerts all sold out. It's all about money with Clear Channel - they'd sell their mother.

4. i will listen for that - one thing
my husband and i noticed, on the oldies station here, its seems as if fortunate son is in heavy play, we hear it all the time. Although its not a clear channel station, we can't help but think somewhere somehow, a program director is getting some revenge.

5. I thought Clear Channel owns Air America
isn't that a progressive liberal network?

6. Clear Channel does not own Air America
I wouldn't listen to a Clear Channel station if you paid me. In Colorado we have a station called 99.5 The Mountain. It's the first station I've heard in years that seems to have no specific playlist, it's a beautiful thing. To top it off our evening DJ is Rachael Donahue who in the late 1960's along with her husband Tom started the first FM Rock station. Slowly stations are popping up around the country that are easing back into having "real" DJ's and free form radio. You lucky folks in Southern Ca. have free form radio with Jim Ladd at night. Don't remember the station but it's a classic rock station in L.A.

7. They Own A Few Of The Stations On Which AA Airs.
They don't own the network itself. That's funded by a whole gaggle of investors. Clear Channel is not one of them. But, AA got a good airtime deal from a couple of CC stations. Basically CC saw the AA was making money, and that was more important than ideology. So, now we're in bed with the devil.
